What were your symptoms? P0299? Wastegate play? Or something less obvious? Glad you got it replaced, I want mine replaced too but no codes or excessive play in the wastegate yet. I am seeing a bit of oil in the TB still even after replacing the IM.
Not must waste gate play, but first time it threw a P0299 was accelerating to merge onto 84. I was holding 3k rpms in 3rd on the ramp, when i floored it to get up to speed.. when i hit 3500-3700 rpms she lost boost then made a definitive whoosh/blowoff sound that was audible and lasted less then a second. When i got to work i checked all the lines, startedher back up and no code.
She did this two more times but same result after restart no cel. Went to dealer and they checked everything but found nothing.
The fourth time the cel stayed, so made an appointment and like anything the cel turned off few days prior but went to history. They spent 3hr checking and testing but couldnt find anything while also talking with gm to figure it out. They wanted to keep the car to see if they could recreate and get the cel. I opted to drive it myself knowing what triggered it and 80 miles later i get it to trigger. Onmy way back she threw a second cel for P0097.
Called the dealer next day and they had the new turbo on the way. Waste gate and bov both failed. My guess is when removing the old one they damaged the primary cat and replaced it as well.
I did notice one other thing, after the 3rd and 4th time.. boost never got past 5. I was also finding oil the charge hose to the TB.
