Hey Everyone,

I am new to this forum as well as to this car. I really have not payed much attention until I saw one of these on the street. I am in the market for a new car. I would like to buy a sonic with the 1.4t engine but none are in my area.

What do you all think? Should I order the car or wait a few more months and get the 2013. I am really ok with getting the 2012 since all i want is the 1.4t and sunroof.

Perhaps ask your dealer if they can search for a turbo at another dealership that you can buy.

I personally would wait for the RS.
I really wish I had done that, but when I bought my Sonic, gas pushing $4/gallon and I was driving a 15mpg Blazer...

I just checked inventory and there are 16K nationwide of all iterations, which is about 5 per dealer. Some may be in transit. Some of these may even be sold as there is a lag before a car comes off of showing in inventory.

I then checked for 2LZ (sunroof needs LTZ) as Chevy usually produces more auto trans at the premium level: 98 nationwide. That is not very many.

I did not look for the sunroof option.

My advice: Order a 2013 Sonic, configured as you want.

I actually kind of like the old school radio design and have no need for the infotainment system. I'd opt for the '12.

I would wait for the rs too but I had to buy a car ASAP after selling my truck. But the rs should be out soon enough and then I'll be crying.

Take a look into which model you need to get the sunroof, I actually think the LT allows you to order the sunroof.

Basically it depends on what options you want vs need.
I'd say 1.4T is a need, no substitute for the fun/mpg.

The LTZ for '13 will come with the spoiler and there are a few more things the LT gains this year and add to that the prices aren't settled yet and it becomes more of a mystery for '13.

As for some saying "screw MyLink", you can always trade someone with a '12 for their radio/bezel plus cash and make out on the deal.
Many wanted MyLink but refused to wait for '13.

Get the RS version? Prepare to spend BIG time.
The RS is a model that is an LTZ+.
SO prepare to spend at least $1,300 more than a fully loaded LTZ, period.
(Plus, sure you want a hatch?)

I have teetered hatch vs sedan for the last week, I'm getting an LTZ loaded up anyway, I could stretch, right?
Well I'd have to can my Inferno Metallic choice, give up trunk space, etc.
What do I get out of it? 4-wheel disc (big plus), a cooler steering wheel, a crappy fascia and some RS badges/embroidered seats?
No thanks. Not since it will likely hit $22k-$23k.

Welcome to the forum! I know everyone is saying wait until the 2013 comes out but if you would like, I can try to locate the 2012 1.4t w/sunroof. Would also need your zip code and your color preference?

The fact that there is no Sonic LT with a Orion Assembly factory installed sunroof anywhere in the USA speaks for itself.
