It may be optional to run water cooling, but it would be of best interest to if you have to option. My gt2056 doesn't have a water line.

MPFab sells the oil and water fittings. Then you can have the oil and water lines made. His fittings are top notch.

Hey hows it going! Completely forgot I bought the coilovers off you. I too long pondered the idea of doing a manual swap, but just decided to sell the auto for the manual to avoid a massive head ace. I also hate the sedan and wanted a different color. BTW we both have the granite black sonic now:banana:



The coilovers are still performing well. I plan to run stiffer springs in the rear soon and also cut off some of the rear perch to allow more movement. If I have a lot of weight in the rear and hit a bump the rear perch will make contact. Stiffer springs (that are also 1" shorter) will allow same ride height as current, but will also enable me to load the rear.

It's a great color! Love the granite black.

Glad the coils are working out well for you. Pretty sure the rear spring rates are soft on most (if not all) coilover options for the Sonic. Stiffer springs are definitely the way to go.

Car looks great. I'm sure it's fun as hell with the big turbo.

Any one have pictures of the install of a Spec Stage Two with Aluminum or Steel Flywheel install? I am looking specifically for a picture of the friction disk with the little "fw side" sticker that indicates which way the disk faces.

Finally got around to installing my spec stage 2+ clutch and aluminum flywheel. This was long overdue and you can see what I mean a few pages back in the video. Nothing to exciting to look at but below are some pics!

Man I really want to go bigger turbo but REALLY wish there was a kit for something similar to what you have. MPFab is over 2,000 miles away from me so I don't know how that would work . I'll keep saving in the mean time.

How much lag do you have with the larger turbo, or phrased another way, around what rpm does it really start ramping up boost?

Other people can make a kit for you too man. Just need a spare car so they can have it in their shop while doing fab work. Fitment is tight so you'd need the car in their shop.

The lag is increased quite a bit over the stock turbo, however thats why you down shift First gear is useless with stock turbo or my bigger turbo. If I do a 15 roll in second it lags bad, but again down shift. Things really turn up at 3500rpm. Full boost at 4,000rpm.

Made a lot of progress with the build this week. I have decided to go a bit different route with the build. Going to stay away from E85 at least for a while. I ordered 52lb injectors and they came in. I purchased a set of 255 40 17 G-Force Comp2's A/S for my Klutch 9x17 ML7's. Most importantly, I have scheduled a day to do my return fuel line and had all the necessary parts ordered to complete the job! Stay posted for pics!

It is a shame no way has made a turbo swap kit yet. They might not be flying off the shelves, but a reliable kit with a GT2560 would sell. There is not to much lag and it will put down some impressive power. Probably $4-4,500 all in. I consider myself extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to by MPFabs kit used. If I didnt get the kit, I would never have swapped. Where are you from?

Well here it is, 255 40 17 BFGoodrich G-force comp 2's mounted on 17X9 Klutch ML7's. I still have some work to do: alignment, roll fenders, and camber shims. Other than that, everything clears with fractions of an inch. My pedder coilovers fit with about 1/4" clearance and same with the wheel well liners.

I'm about 30 miles north of Seattle, I'm just starting to check around for shops that do good custom exhaust work in the Everett area. If anyone has any recommendations PM me, although I'm probably still 6+ months away from starting anything.

I'd like to hit 250 whp without sacrificing too much bottom end, not sure what the BNR GTX maxes out at but am thinking either that or the GT2052. Would be nice to keep water cooling and have ball bearing but the smallest water cooled/BB turbo Garrett has is the GT2554R but I think that would sacrifice too much on the low end.

To my surprise I was still able to bust them loose with no problem, lol. Either way its a huge upgrade over my previous tires.

Dont go with a GT2052. You'd be better off getting the GTX kit. A GT2052 would make a little more power than the GTX, but if your already shelling out the dough, might as well go a bit bigger. I would go with a GT2560R. Merely the same turbo as mine after I did my modifications to my turbo. The advantage is that it is water cooled. Turbo lag will be the same as mine and it is what you would expect for a turbo swap. If I were to start from scratch I would use the GT2560R.

Huge thanks to MPFab!!!

The car now has made 249 whp and 263 tq on 93oct! I am content with the numbers but ecstatic with the performance of the car. The car is a little monster now. I spin my 255's all the way through second gear now.

The tune peaks at 26.5psi and falls to 25 psi. Airflow is 26.51 lbs/min at 5,800rpm before maf maxed out and 2.5 degrees of timing.

There is a couple factors that held back making a bigger number:
1. ZZP muffler have baffles in it which restrict flow. Possibly could have made another 5-10 hp.
2. My turbo has damage to the compressor fins. When I had my turbo rebuilt it blew up due to the nut holding the compressor wheel not being tightened down. When I had it re-built the second time there was still a shard of metal somewhere pre-turbo. The damage/cost of powerloss unknown.
3. We did not push the car as hard as we could have and this is due to the fact that I live 9.5hours away!

I will be swapping out the muffler for a straight-through and I may have the turbo re-built. I probably won't dyno just for that though.

He has quite the edge on me with +70whp & MZ0 and I wasnt smart enough to do a break boost.
