November of 2017 I bought my daughter a 2017 RS hatchback in Kinetic Blue, loaded less leather and driver confidence package, 4100 miles for $15,000 out the door. January 24th 2018 (my birthday) I bought another 2017 RS hatchback in Orange Burst Metallic, loaded less leather and drivers confidence package 726 miles for $15,500. They are both identical in option packages, sun roof, keyless start, power drivers seat and both are 6-speed auto.

Just brought home my 2018 Sonic Premier RS Hatch with A6, optional Ivy Metallic paint, and sunroof, with an MSRP of $23,480. I bought it brand new during the 20% off red tag sale for just under $13,500 after negotiating, plus tax and tag. My local dealer located the exact car I wanted 200 miles away and brought it in for me on August 31...

Well . . still wondering about the incentives claimed on that deal. What other discounts were you given and was there a car traded in?
A list of the discounts or photo of the bottom line sales contract would help. . .
Use your phone, upload a picture of the bottom half of the sales contract to your forum photo album and post it here. Then I'll believe $10K off a $23K MSRP. 20% off amounts to less than $4,700. So where did the rest of the discounts come from?
Posting this information would greatly help others when buying there new Sonic.

Yes it is. Unless it was delivered to the dealer with some damage, repaired. . repainted. . . hail damage, etc.
You can't even get a one year old used 2017 Sonic for that price. There is some * Mystery Money * going on with that price if it is real. And he ignored the first time I asked about it also in another thread.

20% of $23,480 is $4,696, there was also a factory to dealer incentive of over $2K in addition to the 20% rebate in August to help dealers move the leftover 18's. On top of that my local dealer is a volume dealer who got more aggressive at the end of the month to hit their monthly sales target. In my online shopping last month I saw several dealers in the US advertising over $7k off on a new Sonic. That is how I found out about the additional factory to dealer incentives that were on the cars as they were hidden, my buyers order only shows the 20% rebate that was to the customer.

Well, how about the links online that helped show these national dealers and "Hidden Incentives" offering $7,000 off? Some should still be around.

The 20% promotion with additional factory to dealer incentives ended the end of August so of course there are no longer any adds on autotrader or cars.com showing an over 7K honest discount on new Sonic's, as this month the rebate is back to just $500. No add I saw last month stated that there were factory to dealer incentives but when I saw such large discounts being offered on even entry level base model 1.8 LT's I took it to my local dealer and the sales manager confirmed that there were factory to dealer incentives. This is nothing new, you can google it, as many manufactures offer hidden incentives and let the dealers decide if they want to keep it all or some of it or pass it on to the customer to sell more cars. This promotion is history now as of August 31 and I know that I lucked out and got an amazing deal last month and that's what matters to me. If you don't want to believe it it's all good. The deal is gone now anyway, and for anyone that may want a new Sonic for September this month there is just a $500 rebate on both 18's and 19's....

It doesn't matter if this incentive is now past. This kind of info, if true, would aid a lot of new potential buyers who come here.
How about links to the particular dealers you shopped? Can't or won't do that either? That would help others monitor in case another round of "hidden incentives" popped up.
The problem is, ANY dealer incentive would still show up as a "cash discount", dealer discount, etc on the sales invoice. The money off would HAVE to show up somewhere or else it isn't applied and it would also be illegal in any state. Plus. . you would then also be paying sales tax and fees on the FULL amount verses the actual sale amount you paid. If not, then that was also illegal.
Quite a few others in the past, have shown their sales invoice numbers even on the great deals they have gotten with no problem.
Since you aren't willing to show a photo copy of the portion of the sales contract with the numbers. .. I'm afraid it comes across as pretty bogus.
Again, this kind of info, if true, would aid a lot of new potential buyers who come here.

Being a true car enthusiast I have bought many new cars over the past 40 plus years, and trust me when I say I have been beaten up on more than my share of deals. I usually don't keep my cars very long, a year or two at the most, so I have learned the hard way to only buy if I find a deal where I won't get beat up too badly after a year or so of ownership. I have been interested in a new Sonic since the RS came out in 2013 but because of the way these cars tend to depreciate I never pulled the trigger. Knowing that this time around I lucked out and got a crazy deal I can fully understand why it sounds too good to be true, but trust me as much as I love the Sonic I otherwise would have never pulled the trigger knowing how quickly these cars tend to drop in value. Even at what I bought it for I will still take about a $1K hit if I trade it next year at this time. These cars are a lot of fun but we should all know going in that it's a practical safe fun to drive well built and cool car, but it's not the most logical choice down the road for resale value.... My advice is definitely buy one, but if buying brand new Deal Hard!!!!

Well I sold her to myself at the dealership I work for so....
$11500 out the door
2017 RS 1.8 29k miles.
Man that feels a little high.
I just picked up a 2019 1.4 RS 4 miles stickered $21,XXX and only paid $15,XXX out the door in Estero Florida. This is my 3rd Sonic and cheapest yet.
I got my new 2019 White Premiere Hatchback automatic with no additional options. It was $21607 minus $3250 for my 2012 Cruze LTZ RS with 117,000 miles on it. In addition I got $3961 off from the deal back in April. The subtotal was $14,396 and I paid $899.75 for taxes. After the rest of the fees the total amount was $15,680.53.
