Wastegate Actuator Adjustments

I have the BNR WGA and I’m wondering how I will know if it needs to be adjusted. The car is running great, however, the boost seems to come on a little late. When it does come on though, it pulls very strong. I’m very happy with that part.

The WGA is set at one full turn of preload. If I were to turn it in another half turn, what can I expect? I don’t want to damage the motor. I’m just wondering if that will help build boost earlier in the rev band.

If it was leaking would it not be while it's under boost? Doesn't make sense that it would leak when it's not under load.

Oops, sorry....lol I've been working too much lately and not sleeping enough. There is another thread complaining bout leakage. Maybe I got them confused. Actually that might even be my thread... .
At any rate, I really can't see it changing anything if you were to tighten preload. If it's not leaking I would leave it be.

That Half of turn wont break anything and you should boost just slightly faster than before. Just a warning though that stock WG has putty on it and you will have to bust that off to adjust it and that voids your warranty.

Just dont go turning it in like 6 times lol dont go nuts because that factory WG is not built the best and it would go to the crapper real quick.

I think I am the turns in that the video instructs, plus either two full turns or two half turns. I don't remember which and I didn't write it down. No problems yet.

When I had my turbo warrantied, the replacement was an animal around town, and absolutely weak at speed, and surged like crazy at part throttle on the highway.

Checked the actuator, and the preload was set to about 7 turns. This did not play well when I put the tune back on it. CEL and power cut on the first pull.

Many months later, I have the BNR actuator, and have run anything from 0 to 3 turns.

More turns will cause the boost to come in quicker, but at the expense of overboosting and triggering various stages of limp mode.

I'm currently at 0 turns, and it runs strong, eventually. Still trying to find the magic settings that won't overboost. My car is a bit stubborn, like me.

100% agree. Been playing with it and the Bnr tune in stock eastagate preload has to much part throttle boost. I just got a mamba wastegate and found half turn is perfect which you can do in stick wastegate was well. Boost doesn't come on to strong and is more progressive.

I picked up this one of their kits based on my measurements and gambled that it would work because they don't have a specific kit for sonic or cruze. But been in contact with rep at mamba and providing them measurements and they will have a kit soon. The kit will have the we wastegate as the same as this one in the link below but I had to drilled out the arm hole. So if you decide to get the one from the link keep. In mind you'll need to drill out the arm to fit the nipple on the turbo wastegate. But that's it. Works great so far. Still going up one more spring to test. I'm gojg to post about it soon as the kit is available.
