Here is my photo diary of the big stereo install in my Chevy Sonic Turbo. Ive had the car only a week and it was enough for me to decide to trash the crap factory stereo. The biggest features for this install is the custom board to mount all my amps and the custom tweeter install in the doors. All of it done by myself.
A few things to note....
-this whole car is plastic and clips. Every interior panel came off very easily just by pulling till clips pop out. Dont be lazy, hide your wires under the carpet for a very clean install.
-twist ties are your friend. Use twist ties or mini tie straps and tie all cables together. This gives a very clean look and easier to manage. Also, use a solder gun and solder all your wire connections.
-power cable, feed cable through firewall using the 2" rubber cap next to the brake system. I used a bolt holding the rear seat as my ground bolt.
-using the audiocontrol for my rca outputs. Very nice little machine, sound quality is excellent, ables me to keep my factory head unit. Worth the investment.
-still havent figured out how to remove the door handle pin so i can remove the inside door panel. I tried for an hour and gave up. I was still able to change the door speaker by pulling the bottom of the door panel away from the door.
-tweeters, i duct tape both small plastic door panels together. line them up together perfectly. I drilled a small pilot hole were i want the center of tweeter to be through both panels at the same time. Now you have the center point perfectly positioned on both panels. I used a small dremmel drill to slowly cut the holes bigger and bigger till the tweeters are a snug fit.
-this entire install took me the whole weekend but very well worth it. The sound is amazing with the most excellent sound quality.
And questions or comments?
