What kind of MPG can I expect from the Sonic?

To be a successful car I know that Chevy knows they need to get a high MPG out of this car.
I think Chevy is being weary and still in the testing and optimizing of this car but I think we will see a 32+ MPG range without any troubles.

I think 30+ is a have to when you look at all other small sport turbo cars doing the same and this being smaller. Read cruze eco gets 42 highway. If thats true 35+ shouldn't be a problem.

We do have to remember how much we will be paying for this car, we can't expect it to be in fierce competition with higher priced hybrids that are specifically developed to be high MPG cars. I think if we get mid 30's any body who buys this car should be happy. I guess you could say my expectations are pretty much non existant.

The current estimates put the MPG at 40. This has not been officially confirmed but what GM is estimating right now.

Since it doesn't help to guess anymore on the base, I will guess that the turbo 1.4 will be putting close to 35MPG combined.

The following MPG numbers are the EPA ratings from fueleconomy.gov for the 2012 Cruze:
1.8 auto 22/35 city/hwy
1.8 manual 25/36 city/hwy
1.4T auto/manual non-ECO 26/38 city/hwy
1.4T ECO auto 26/39 city/hwy
1.4T ECO manual 28/42 city/hwy
Since the Sonic uses the same engines and should be a little more than 300lbs. lighter (depending on trim level), we should see EPA ratings slighter higher.

we already know the window sticker on the auto 1.8 sonic is 25/35, so no better than the cruze 1.8 auto on the highway, and only 3 mpg higher in the city (but still below many of its competitors in both).

I have had my Sonic for about two weeks (YAY!). I get very good highway mileage at about 35mpg, however, when my husband drives he gets approximately 31. So it all depends on how you drive. Our city driving comes in at about 24/26mgp.

I drive all city with lots of traffic lights. I also drive pretty agressive. I'm managing 25 out of my 1.4T. I've only got about 200 mi on the car so far and still haven't taken it out on the highway. I'll be curious what it does when I go visit family over Thanksgiving. That trip will be 500mi (one way) of all highway.
For comparison, if you drove this same regimen with your previous car, what kind of car was it and what mileage did you get? Thanks.

I haven't bounced it off the rev limiter nor have I lugged it at low rpm.
My previous car was an 85 Scirocco with a broken odometer. I would guess that it was somewhere in the low 20s, but that is just a guess.
