I updated my Build post above. I'm saving the place holders for more extensive modifications, i.e. Exhaust project, Coilovers, etc.
Today I got the Chrome off!!!! I managed to only destroy 3 of the chrome ones in the process. LOL

My advice to anyone trying to remove the chrome trim is this:

Cover a butter knife in cloth and pry up the end of the trim at the B-pillar. Once the clip pops, slide the trim in the channel towards the rear (for the front door trim) and once you can grip it with your hand, yank it up. The rear trim is the same, pry up at the B-pillar and slide it towards the front of the car and then yank.

I also removed and deleted the out-dated and redundant door lock knobs. Now it doesn't dig into my arm when I have my arm resting out the window.

Excellent! I posted about that useless door lock knob a couple of weeks ago somewhere on the forum. I removed the door lock knob one day after I got the car. What a ridiculously useless feature that is, not to mention it was in the way for resting my arm on the sill. I'm assuming you bought the "plugs" at Autozone/Pep Boys/Advance/Random auto store. Do you still have the package for the part number?

So once you slid the chrome trim out, what was underneath? Did the replacement black trim slide in and stay secured as easily? Is the trim part number the same for the sedan as it is for the hatch? I read your thread this morning and meant to ask about replacing that trim and here I see you updated it a little bit ago with some info.

Actually I got the plugs at my local ACE hardware. They have a huge bolt hardware selection. IIRC the plugs were 3/8".

Once the window trim is removed there is just the painted sheet metal edge underneath, nothing pretty like I was hoping.... to possibly have the option of no trim at all.

The replacements went in easy as can be. Much easier than removing the chrome. Once they start to grab to channel, you just gotta pound on them with your fist and then slide them into position. And yes, they stay secured nicely.

Also the new OEM black trim had an extremely flat black finish that did not match the black of the mirrors or roof strips well. Easy fix: I used a cloth lightly dabbed with mineral oil and wiped them down. Presto!!

The sedan has a different p/n for the rear doors. I don't know the numbers but a lil searching will get you what you need.

Thanks for the info. On my next trip to the dealer, I'll have them look up the part number/price and see about ordering them. I got a coupon in the mail the other day for I think $20 off accessories or something like that from Chevy. If I can order them cheaper from the GM Parts Direct site, I'll do that instead. Right now I have gloss black vinyl on the chrome trim and I'm not 100% satisfied with my application of the vinyl. Little bits of chrome are still visible in some places. Not really noticeable to the average person, but I'm so OCD that it bothers me every time I see it.

95051378 is the unpainted applique for the trim above the rear license plate on the hatch.

If you have the sedan, you will want 95051337. I'm positive this is correct because I initially got this one by accident and found out that the sedan piece is much wider.

It includes the trunk release button, plate lights and bulbs.

Thank you. I really want to do away with the chrome trunk piece, but I'm not sure if I want to paint over the existing chrome or find a replacement piece sans chrome to paint.

LOL, im going to do some plasti dipping before i buy stuff to replace it. a couple cans of plasti-dip ~$15 vs. buying a bunch of trim pieces and may not like the look once its in.

I'm in Kauai for the week. Dang!!! There are hella Sonics out here..... all Sedans, and likely rentals. When I got my rental, they didn't have any Sonics and they offered to upgrade me to a mid-class. I said "Hell no, Gimme the Aveo!" LOL I am enjoying it because there is hardly anywhere that you need to go faster than 35mph here.

I'm excited to get back to my build when I get home next week. On the list, install the Carbon Fiber hatch, the DDM intake and possibly the TTR mount. Also hope to get my 15lbs Braille CF battery installed and relocate the mount.
