Picked up my 1.4l Turbo Automatic today!

Just got our auto 1.4 last Friday.
Wife drives 200 miles a day so after about 1000 miles we average 33.5 mostly Hyw driving at 70-75 mph.
It seems to be better at 65 but I don't have numbers.
One thing I find weird is that you have to keep you foot on the gas going down even steep hills or the car will just keep slowing down. Any thing over 1500rpm seems to act like braking.

Wow, make sure she's varying speed during break-in, lol!
I noticed that "drag" and noted it in the mpg thread.
On long hills I'll be going to neutral.
(Why have to push on the gas near the bottom just to get back to speed? Hills' payoff is on the downswing! lol)

I have noticed that also in my 1.4 LTZ auto hatch. I wonder if it is due to that "Hill assist" feature??

It's just the powertrain undergoing engine-braking. GM seems to have tuned these cars to do that moreso than before. It's most likely a fuel-saving measure.

key1cc, Congrats on your new Sonic! Just a tip I read in your Owner's Manual. When driving on steep hills or through mountains is different than driving on flat or rolling terrain. You should shift to a lower gear when going down steep or long hills. Shift down to let the engine assist the brakes on a steep downhill slope.
