Hill Hold Assist - Is Yours Working?

I've noticed that the Hill Hold Assist isn't working in my car, so I guess I've got to take it in to be looked at. Is anyone else having this problem?

That I'm not sure of because we don't have many hills down here. Does it only work on steeper hills? I was under the impression that it would always work to keep you from rolling back.

It only works on a certain angle of hill. Yet I was in the parking lot of the dealership and there was a driveway that went up at a fairly slight angle. The hill hold worked perfectly during my test. 1.4l Turbo.

I think I saw in a youtube video a GM engineer saying it was 5 degrees.

I'll have to find a steeper angle to try it on. Everything around here is flat, but at times the car still rolls backwards.

My wife about smacked the car behind us in Salt Lake City last night. She was under the impression the hill hold held forever, oops! Thankfully she got back on the brakes.

I also find the feature annoying, but alas.

If you turn off the traction and stability control (hold the button until both lights come on in the tach), the hill hold is also disabled. My standard routine when I get in the car: put on seat belt, start car, hold TCS button for a few seconds, and go.

Yeah u love this feature!!! def a two thumbs up haha. even tho ive been driving a standard for the whole time ive been driving. pretty much. bc the feature is amazing haha to bad i dont live in WV anymore it would have became helpful for my girl to drivce my car. i also lik how it is for either facing up or down a hill. which is pretty cool. and someone posted the 5 deg. min it has to have is 100% true

I was wondering why I kept rolling backwards. So its has to be a steep enough incline. How long does does it hold?

5 degree angle needed and maximum of 3 seconds

the hill hold is cool but it doesnt always kick in and its making it just a hair more difficult to teach my wife how to drive a stick. I might disable it for lessons. thanks for the tip on holding the button

basically the way it works is the grade has to be 5 percent or more either facing down a hill or facing up a hill.. and it holds the brakes for about 3 seconds. and you have to have the clutch pressed down and the shifter in 1st gear. and brakes held then release brakes and start driving. AMAZING THING.. try it out its crazy haha. bc i didnt even know that the sonic had this until i was driving to an intersection that had a little hill and it held and i was like WTF!!!

GM claims it works both uphill and downhill, on manuals and automatics..I took some of my sales guys out yesterday and used it in our parking garage with a high incline...uphill everything work perfectly on both auto and man...downhill, it never once worked on either tranny. Personally, don't see much of a need on automatic or on downhill anyway. But it is cool on the uphill manual!
