Hill Hold Assist - Is Yours Working?

I guess I don't get why people on here are trying to disprove me? Like you don't believe there is something wrong with my car.My wife has a Sonic, and hers works just fine. Worked everytime with her car--on the same inclines. Plus I purposely went to a very steep hill. Had same issues.

I am trying to disprove you because I know it can be tricky and that if it's the nut behind the wheel causing the problem, the dealer can't fix it.

But you are in an ideal situation to prove to yourself that it IS the car; if it works consistently in the same spot every time when you drive her car, doing the same thing (and with the same fuses in place) and doesn't work consistently on yours, then the problem is with your car, and the dealership needs to fix it, and if they don't you need to find another dealership.

If it never worked on your car, that would point to perhaps something to do with your mods. If it worked inconsistently on hers as well as yours, that would point to driver error or something. But this combo? It's really very clear that it's your car.

Well I tried to use the brake pedal pushing hard test. Didn't seem to matter.
On the same hill in my wife's car I was barely pushing in the brake-just enough to hold the car at a stop, and hers worked. I tried at various pressures on my car, it didn't seem to make a difference. One thing that i did notice that one one hill it always had this pattern--didn't work, work, didn't work. It never worked the first time, always the second, never the third.

But I tried it on my driveway which is pretty steep, worked first time, not second, not third. But everytime on my driveway, there really is no pattern.

Going back to what I originally said, I wouldn't mind either way if the hill assist works or not, I was just wanting it to be consistent, either always not working or always working.

Anyway, I have put way too much energy and time into this, unless I find out exactly what it is for the dealer to look at, I will just live with it.

As for new dealer, I would have to drive all the way up tp Denver, which is drive for me. So I will just until I can find the sensor (or what it is) that determines the angle of the car. That is what I believe it is cause I have tried everything else.

I've noticed that the Hill Hold Assist isn't working in my car, so I guess I've got to take it in to be looked at. Is anyone else having this problem?

'19 HB holds when sitting level at stoplight, very slow to release. But, if uphill, NO hold!! The question of disabling no one knows the answer. How about adjustment?

Mine works. 165k on a 2012. Its never given me problems and I'm kinda surprised its worked well for so long. First car I've had this as a feature.

Well most of the time it holds, sometimes I do roll back a little bit on steeper inclines. Really scares the driver that’s behind me who pulled up a few inches away from my rear bumper. If only they knew. Lol
