Well bad news, the test results are in but the lab does not have the specs for this oil (go figure) because it is so new. They said that they search all they can and found no specs. So, I am sending them a quart of Ac Delco bot 303 so they can have a correct standard to compare to. Now it will be a week again before I have complete report. I will tell you that it was no surprise to see that the aluminum and copper content was three times the standard of the 5 speed gear oil at 22,000 mile. Thats was their report compared to 5 speed oil specs. I could just attach the report but not having the correct standard to compare too, makes a bad test. Hang in there guys. But play it safe and get it done before or at 30,000 miles. The oil is over priced at 30.00 a quart but better safe then sorry. It would be sad to have to replace trans just after your warranty ran out.

I have to be honest, in my opinion I highly doubt the difference between 70w and 80w in a manual transmission of any age would have a significant effect especially at low mileage. 70w,80w,90w are all very close in viscosity and act very similar as far as being squeezed out from between gears. Remember MANY modern manual transmissions run ATF in them which is super thin.
Now, I do have a different opinion when it comes to types and brands of ATF in an automatic, but those are a hydraulic nitemare and are actually designed around a specific fluid. I'm sure there are other guys here who know more than me that can comment and its also hard to say anything bad about Blackstone labs....
I'm going to assume, manual transmissions have to "wear in" as well as most other mechanical components? This would cause a higher level of metals in the oil initially.
Thanks for keeping us posted. Please DM us if you're having issues with with your vehicle unable to be resolved by the dealership. If you get in touch, please include the vehicle VIN#, your name, and situation. I hope this is taken of quickly for you.

Ok, This I DO NOT SUGGEST! but i did go with Valvoline 75W 90 full synthetic. Now it seems to shift smoother with the big exception that untill the trans is warmed to operation temp it is a fine art to get it into first gear. Example: I have to come to complete stop to get it into first gear rather before I could get it back in without effort or thought. Plus, it is just starting to get into the winter time and it may be a great challenge to get it into first gear. So, not recommended to use a heavier grade of oil. This maybe the reason why GM went with the 70W rather then 80w as U.K. Last, this topic is only for the reason to figure out a clear standard for oil change, due to GM leaving it up to dealerships. A 30,000 mile difference between dealerships is very alarming. It is true about wear in or break in of all mechanical components and that is a factor that should be considered for your first oil change and a factor considered for a standard oil change, when making a standard.
Not sure but one that has time to research could use the info referenced at this site. Plus, get some history on the trans. As for oil history with this new 70w (Ac Delco bot 303) I have no idea. M32 6-speed manual transmission. 1.9 CDTi & VXR | Diagnostics.org.uk
