Homage to my Sonic

Sigh. Had an awful wreck about a month ago and am just now getting around to posting here about it. It was rather unfortunate accident in my first car, which I'd only had since the 6th of November last year. I will say this though: I walked out of my accident, and the guy in his truck didn't. Gotta say, I love you Chevy engineers for, if not saving my life, at least keeping all injuries down to an airbag burn, a seat belt bruise, and a case of the shakes.

I will say that I have already gotten into another (sadly still Summit White) Sonic sedan. Thank goodness for insurance~!

Was off for work and a guy ran the red light when I was turning left on a green arrow. Never even saw the sucker coming! One of the mods I did (Plasti-dip on the bowties) held up about the same as his truck: didn't really look blemished.

As bad as it sounds, I think I turned out better after the wreck. My new Sonic, which is still a 2012 Summit White sedan, has a LOT more upgrades in it compared to my wrecked one, which was a base with manual windows. Got a bit of lower payments too and went from 15k miles down to 50.

A touch of optimism never hurts.

Much of the same. 1.8 2LT Sonic with a few more amenities than the first. Unfortunately my insurance covered just enough to get me out from under my loan, so I am starting all over fresh.

The other guy was going pretty fast. Kinda came up over a hill at the light so I can't really give a good judge of speed (also that I didn't see him). The only thing that makes me thing he had speed was that he hit and kept rolling for quite a ways. I'd only just started turning when the light changed, so I had no speed, really.

I do feel as though I got out extremely lucky; by the time someone opened my door to make sure I was OK, someone else has pulled the other guy out of his truck. He was unconscious and, from what I understand, had pretty severe neck and back trauma. I do know that his airbags failed to deploy for whatever reason and that he was carried away on a stretcher.

Sometimes it's better to lucky than good. Glad you're OK and I hope to never have a similar story to tell.

This is why I usually carry a camera on me. Well, now cell phone. People try lying when things like this happened. i had a drunk chick ram into my car a few years back and blame it on me. Good thing I called the cops and took pics.

To bad you couldn't buy the car back after settlement for the parts. Good to know these things hold up in accidents.
