Installed SporTrek Roof Rack on 2013 LTZ Sonic Hatch

I ordered this roof rack from Perry Craft and it appears to be very aerodynamic.

It is a ligt duty roof rack which is all I plan to use it for (if that).

I like the look it gives to the hatch but install for the one I went with was a bear.

I suppose it would have been easier if I would have ordered the one designed for the sonic but it was 10 inches shorter....

Yeah I like it to....but if I could do it all over again I would probally just get the one that is made for the sonic...to avoid trying to make the larger one (designed for the ford fiesta as well as other vehicles) to perfectly contour to the Sonics roof. It turns out I installed the crossbars 4 inches from each end of the rails.....so if I would have bought the smaller one I would have just installed it at the ends of the rails....live and learn.....but I stilll like it and to my surprise even the wife likes it now

After test driving I heard a medium-high pitched sound apparently due to wind noise coming through my closed sun-roof. I only heard it when I drove between 35 and 48 mph. I changed the location of the cross bars to move them one inch from the end of the rails (instead of the 4 inches away you see in the current pic). The span between the cross rails (front to back of car) is a little wider now and I actually like the look even more. I test drove it and heard no wind noise isses at any speed...... so problem solved. Now I am very happy I got the longer rails to give me the ability to adjust the crossbars further away from each other. It's dark outside now so I will take some pics tomorrow.

They would look really good on your silver sonic sedan....


When I took the pics showing the side vents they were temporarily held in place with electrical tape. I have not permanently attached them yet .

I like the look of the vents with no exterior mods but I want to see how they look when I complete all of my exterior mods. I only have two more to go .

Looks good! Do the have a kit for the sedan? I've been trying to find something a little 'low profile' like that.

Edit After looking into that kit, that's 'permanent install' roof rack, so I guess my search continues.

Yes it is a permanent install. Seven wax coated screws for each rail. However I ruined the wax coating by taking the screws out after installing them which is a no no. It was not a big issue though becaused I learned from a truck forum that roof racks are installed by wrapping the screws with teflon tape (like plumbers do) to prevent leaks. So far ao good. We had extended heavy rains here today and no leaks

They are light duty roof racks with a max weight limit of 75lbs.

I want to get a "Turbo" emblem also to go right under my driver side vent . .....like the one on the back of the car......don't know where to get it yet.

Thanks for the compliment on the rack....but it does not offset the bashing of the vents...

I agree with Eric on both, I don't like the vents either..... And...... He does have a very nice rack.
