Your $400 could get you a lot more if you got the subs and amp yourself. Your paying for the small clean package. If I were gonna do it I would make a sub box that fit under the false bottom

thats what i did, 250 for everything and i can gaurantee you my setup will hit a heck of allot harder than that kicker setup

I think you'll find that eBay ad slightly misleading. I believe what they are selling is for the amplifier and wiring harness ONLY. It does not include the actual subwoofer even though they use the picture of it. See link below.

GM part number 19119147 is the item that has the actual subwoofer with it and is MUCH more expensive.

For that cost you can definately get something better through aftermarket. Will it be as well integrated and as easy to install? Probably not.

I really love the 10" sub in cobalt ss's my buddy has one and its so clean and hits pretty good as well

I've listened to it before, it's a clean setup, but I feel you could get more bang for your buck if you went with a different setup.. I did all the speakers, deck, sub and amp in my Jeep for about 800 bucks... and my local stereo shop tells me its one of the best setups they've heard. I'll be doing the same thing when my RS gets here.

I think I'm attracted to the GM setup because its plug and play... I haven't done a sub and amp install in a while and I don't want to tear the interior apart myself to do it. That and I don't want to change out the stock head unit, which is what I did last time I changed an audio system...

Depends on the LOC you use.
The ones that come in the Kicker kit are super simple, they have the same connectors the speakers have.
You just unplug the speaker, plug the line into the LOC, then you run the rest.
(As described by those here and the item description)

Most LOC's have normal wires so you can place them anywhere between the headunit and the speaker.
as LOCs convert the audio to a low voltage you'll benefit from jacking in as close to your end-point/amp and speakers as possible.

Using an LOC not included in the kit will just need dialed-in.
(the wattage put out by a headunit varies by system and I'm sure GM at least had Kicker set it close to what is needed.

bummmp an old thread. Has anyone tried the Kicker kit that's available from the dealers? It says the sub mounts to the back of the seat behind the driver. I wonder why they don't use the space under the back deck of the hatch? I like the idea of the plug N play part.
