I answered my own question. Stock appears to be 70%...or at least that is what is inscribed in the windows.....
Anyway...I got my rear and hatch windows professionally tinted today. I went with 18%.... which was one of the in-stock choices and I am extremely happy with it. I went over to PA to get it done which was only a 35 minute ride (from NJ). I had a choice of a tint with a 3 year waranty for $$150 or one with a lifetime warranty with garunteed no fading, no bubbling, or no delamination ever....for $225. I went with the higher quality film. The website of the film manufacturer is www.Suntekfilms.com.
One other thing. To date I have never seen another Sonic on the road until today when I went inside the Tinting guys shop...there was a Blue Topaz Hatchback LTZ sitting right there and looking very good.

Factory Tinted Glass
Does anyone know if the sonic comes with factory tinted glass? Someone I know just got the sonTh and says there is a slight tint in the glass. If so, any one know what % it is so I can add the proper tint % to meet my state requirements in a week or so when it gets delivered from Michigan to my dealer. Thanks.

SUNTEK film is what I will be putting on my Cyber Grey hatch, should be here the 18th...I had Suntek on my BLACK TT and it looked amazing so stick with what works...I am going 20% I think it is all the way around, in PA its all illegal past stock on passenger vehicles from everything i read. So might as well pick what you want to risk and just go with it. I never been fined for it, knock on wood.

iam a window tinter 18 years and all the films you talked about are good 2ply color stable easy to shrink i like all of 3m lines and also 3m clear bras full front bumper wraps jus check your local state laws or check iwfa web site for state law legal limits window tint and to anwser your question on factory tint stock is between 18 and 20 % others clear glass has no uv proction i have 38% all around and w/s

Are tinted windows a factory option? I live in NY where the max light
that can be blocked is 5% on the front windows. Meaning the glass needs to be almost perfectly clear. The rear howerver can be painted black as long as you have a right side mirror. I know this because years ago I received a ticket for tinted windows and tried to fight it. I had to bring the car to a DMV (not state) inspection facility where they used a meter to measure the light transmittannce. I failed on the front doors. When I asked what tint would pass I was told none, the factory 5% is already at the leagal limit. My new sonic windows Re almost clear like that car was. So are there options for tint from the factory?
