I've been a Sonic owner for almost a month and a half now, and I just now found this site
. Anyways, I guess this is my first post
Red 2012 Sonic LT hatch, 1.4L turbo, 6-speed manual, w/ cruise and connectivity package
Went and picked it up 12/12/2011, 4 days before my 26th birthday
. Had to get the dealer to get it and deliver it from Franklin, NC. Sticker was something like $16,700, not a bad price for a turbo and 6-speed manual.
I've been driving it for like 5-6 weeks and I'm very happy with it
. 1600 miles on it so far. Its quick, handles extremely well, and its practical with all the interior space and fuel economy. Best of all, the turbo, 6-speed, and handling all make it VERY fun to drive . Probably the most fun you can have in a FWD economy car that costs less than $20k. I've been averaging 35 mpg in mixed driving, and that's with spooling the turbo
.
No real problems with it so far, everything works and its a solid car. Only issue is that 2nd gear is kind of "notchy", but then I've noticed that with the other gears, just to a lesser degree. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet, hoping it might smooth out. Its weird, all the parts on the car that are American-made work well, its just the Italian/Austrian transmission that's acting up
. My other car is a '88 Fiero GT w/ a 5-speed Getrag 282 (Sonic has a 6-speed Getrag, F28 or something) and its smoother, with 85k more miles on it. Besides the transmission though, no problems so far. I just kind of wish I'd ordered it custom, I wanted a white one with sunroof. My Fiero's red and hardtop too
My Fiero, for reference:
I got the Sonic to be my DD. The Fiero, and a MR2 Turbo I had were my DDs in college.
