The Sportster is a real motorcycle, stripped down to the basics. I was toying with the idea of buying a new Sportster Seventy-Two, but I just don't think I'd have a decent time riding around here.

lol yes the sporster is a girls bike. and its a great bike for people that want to start out. but it pisses me off because people buy a sportser and think there a biker. i did 24000 miles last year on my bike. try that on a sporty

Hey don't hate on the jap bikes. I had a gsxr 600 for the last three years that I used to track. It wasn't the best for cruising around on long rides but I tell you what, there is no other feeling as great as hitting some tight twisties on a supersport

I wish the US made sportbikes. Too bad the Buell was shutdown. I don't dislike Harleys, but I'm into stunt riding, and they aren't very partial to stoppies. Also hey are slow and expensive. But like I said, I would buy an American sportbike in a second even if it was outrageously priced. I try to be loyal to domestic brands.

I saw a toyota the other day with a Support the Troops ribbon that was colored like an American Flag. I wanted to run him off. Support the Troops? You can start by supporting your own economy jack-ass. He prolly bought it at Walmart.

The bad thing about hating on foreign brands in our country is that most of them build their products here with American labor. Granted the profits still go back to the home land but at least they are putting food in Americans mouths. And if you really want to get technical gm builds a good portion of their vehicles in Canada and Mexico supporting their economy and their pocket books.

And if you really want to get technical gm builds a good portion of their vehicles in Canada and Mexico supporting their economy and their pocket books.

I've carried out this argument many times, and you are correct for the most part. But I refuse to believe that buying non-domestic brands is somehow BETTER for our economy. I don't cheer for the away team.

The strongest vote is with dollar bills. If the Sonic does exceptionally well, and if its due to the fact that it is built on US soil by union hands, the powers that be will move in that direction. Not a likely chance, but I can dream.

We're cramping this dudes build thread, I'd say we should take this to another thread, but I won't consider changing my opinion so it's pointless. Like a bauss.

If you ride a bike you are technically a biker. Just like if you drive a car you are a driver. It doesn't take 25,000 miles a year or a more expensive, bloated model of bike to qualify you.

normally people don't buy sportsters to do 24k in a year, and anyone who buys a bike to be a "biker" shouldn't be riding in the first place. my sporty is my bar hopper, stripped low n loud. it serves it's purpose and if i want to ride long distance i just take my "mans" bike. i've been riding motorcycles for almost 30yrs, starting in the dirt, and i've always believed it's not what you ride, it's how you ride it... probly the most fun i've ever had on a bike was a turbo'd ruckus and pit bikes.

but just my 2cents, to each their own...

i would have to disagree with you. buying a bike dosent make you a biker

no there isnt a make and a model that qualifys you as a biker. just because you buy a certan brand motorcycle dosent make you a biker. there are more posers that spend 10-20k on a bike and get the matching jacket and tshirt. and think they are a biker.
