Some of the stress of the torque is distributed out through the wheel hop. The slicks will pretty much end the hop, and will redirect the full torque through the clutch. Please count the quantity of passes you make on the slicks with the stock clutch....... They will be numbered. But I want to know that number.

From what I've been reading online you can drop from 1/4 to a full second off 60' times with just slicks.

My best 60' was 2.45 I believe stock tuned with summer tires and power robbing injen intake. I see truth in your statement.

i was not able to get the slicks because i was quoted $600 for the pair and i cant justify that so now im looking for used ones.. but i ran for the first time this weekend elevation 600ft

For slicks/drag radial I would look at BFG or Hoosier-more slick like but either one should be less than $450 pair. $600 seems really high price

Are you guys really having traction trouble at the track? I found all I needed on the street with just 205 wide BFG summer rubber. Now I wasn't dropping the clutch from 5k, but I could get a damn good launch out of them and did little more than chirp them into 2nd.

on the stock tires I spun until third, but that is no longer a problem.

Also, in case you guys were wondering... the applicable NHRA altitude correction factor puts both Eric and Sratton dead even at around 14.2 ET at sea level.
