Laborsmiths point about O.E.M.s achieving 100k mi is actually more telling than you think.
GM warranties the powertrain for that many miles, meaning if it fails before then they eat the bill and also take a hit on their reputation. When it comes to turbos, engines, trans repairs we're talking big bucks and pissed of customers....... So at the very least they want there stuff to last until the day the warranty expires.
Thanks to "Joe Over Due Oil Change" or "Jane Rev The Engine All Day" GM must engineer the powertrain so that even the they can expect/hope to reach 100k miles without catastrophic failure... What this means for "Mr Maintain My Car" is that he/she can reasonably exceed the standard warranty period by a fair distance ... Because GM has to make sure the lowest common denominator doesn't cost them money in the long term.
So logically barring any poor engineering or crap quality control an engine with a 100k mile warranty will last significantly more miles than the warranty with good care.
By in large the sonic in general has proven to be a solid, well engineered car with relatively few problems. That's just the 2012s which will have the most growing pains because brand new car design. (new assembly line, new quality gates, new PN#s, etc) expect 2013s and 14s to be more consistent (less scattered fluke problems).
f several turbos have already gone 40-50k mi without an issue while being overboosted and so far there being only 1 confirmed failed turbo to my knowledge (30k mi without an oil change) then it would be reasonable to extrapolate that a stock well maintained 1.4t will reach towards 200k mi.
Of course those are only assumptions, logical predictions based on many observations and previous trends, but assumptions none the less.
If you want hard data It's atleast 2 years away for any sort of pool of data to become available.
