1.8L Turbo Kit

I recently contacted HEP performence and they told me that the market is to small to create a turbo for the 1.8l or even the 1.4l That was the answer he gave me so yeah. No luck

20 minutes north of Pittsburgh.
I'll need the car for 2 weeks and 1500 up front. I'll probably have it done sooner. It will be delivered either non installed with the kit in the trunk, or installed and tow the car to a tuner. If you drive it installed with no tune, its a drive-at-your-own-risk.
Its a hardware only kit.

I figured that was the offer being made. I certainly wouldn't pay someone $2500 to fiddle with my car unless they already had it all worked out and could return it in a few days.

That's completely understandable, but here's how it goes:
Building kits and cars is what I do. However, I don't care about the sonic aftermarket. I don't care about selling kits for or to you guys. I'm certainly not going to go out and buy a 1.8l sonic to build kits - there is not enough aftermarket interest to cover the cost of the car. Period. I have a friends 1.4l at my disposal for product development.
I'm in it to make more cars faster. And I can include you guys at a very reasonable price, if you're interested.
Like all small niche markets, you have a ton of people who want a product, but when it comes time to pony up, nobody is willing to go first. Understandably.
I have no problem providing hardware kit, with a warranty, for this platform. There's plenty of interest. I prefer to deal with hardware only kits because then it's up to you to choose how aggressive of a tune you want, what size injectors you want, what fueling you want, how you want traction control set-up, etc etc. It gives more flexibility for the end user. I could provide a full kit, with injectors, software, everything, but you're going to be looking at 4-5k for that. Ask BNR how much they're remote kit is going to cost
. Also, a hardware only kit is good for those who want the kit, but can't afford the software/tuning yet.
If you want to go one step further, my cost on building the $2500 hardware only kit works out to roughly $1500. Remember, it is for a brand new turbo, all lines and fittings, intake, downpipe, and whatever else is necessary to bolt the kit on. Ignoring R&D, that's still a lot of fabrication time for only a little profit. Look at a lot of other kits on the market for other platforms (not isis/ebay ****, REAL kits), $5500 for a 4-cyl hardware kit that's only includes the same as what I would offer....
This isn't a sales pitch, and I don't mean for it to come across as defensive. Think of it more as a reality check.
I can do a 100% hardware kit, with a warranty, for $2500. If you want something that you can "drive away" with a warranty, you'll need to front $5k+, 'cause you're getting hptuners pro, injectors, a custom tune, and a clutch, installed.
