Amongst the legends that exist in the automotive industry, one of my favorites:
The last year Fiero could have easily been the second or third year; everything in the last year was available. Chevy withdrew objections once it learned the Fiero was at the end of its life.

Could the Fiero in any guise taken sales from the Corvette? Per the legend, someone thought so.

Do I see a 200HP 2 seat coupe/hatchback as a direct competitor to the 450HP Stingray 2 seat coupe/hatchback? No. And I do see a niche for both.

As to the RWD R and the FWD S, I have often wondered how easy it would be to reverse underpinnings.

the only complaint ive ever had on coupes, mind you I am only 5'9" and single and don't have kids or anything, is the heavy doors.. down the road youll need door pins and itll sag n **** n be annoying.. my cavalier was like that you had to lift the door n shut it

I've got 1 1999 Acura CL Coupe with 220,000 miles and the doors are straight and true... Just sayin'

Toyota’s long-rumored three sports car strategy is inching closer to becoming a reality.

We already knew that Toyota was working with BMW to create a successor to the legendary Supra, but now the automaker’s lead sports car engineer, Tetsuya Tada, says that development has also begun on an entry-level rear-wheel-drive coupe that will be positioned below the Toyota GT86/ Scion FR-S.

Although the affordable new model has yet to receive official approval for production,Tada states that it has the support of Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda, whose passion for driver-focused machines helped make the Scion FR-S a reality.

A small RWD coupe would seemingly be the sort of niche product that would send bean counters into hysterics, however Toyota believes lessons gleaned from the GT86/FR-S project would ensure that it is financially viable.

“[The rear wheel drive sports car] sounds like it’s very difficult to do [on a] new platform,” Tada said. “However, Toyota has learnt a lot from 86 project and Toyota has much experience in terms of technology and development in the way we develop vehicles efficiently and cost effectively. We have all these experiences and skills”.

Tada also hinted that Toyota could elect to co-develop the sports car with another company, which comes as little surprise after the automaker's existing projects with Subaru and BMW.

A name hasn't been selected for the model yet, but it wouldn't take a large stretch of the imagination to envision Toyota reviving either its MR2 or Celica badges.

This could spur 130R development... when manufacturers compete, we all win :thumbup:
