2nd gear

When I am shifting from 1st to 2nd, when I release the clutch, the car seems to jerk forward, almost like it was being held back then suddenly released. It only happens from 1 to 2, never any other gears.

I shift around 2500rpm and try to release the clutch slowly. I've also tested it around 2000 and 3000rpm, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Like your signature his has his cars as well, he has a 1.8 auto and 1.8 manual.

Do you have an ultragauge or scangauge? I would say watch the tach but our tachs are slow responding.
Pay attention to the rpms while shifting from 1st to 2nd. When you push down on the clutch do the rpms stay up? maybe you have a vacuum leak. When you let up on the clutch do the rpms drop? Maybe your hitting the gas too soon and not matching the engine rpms to the input shaft speed.
You would not notice that jerking foward in higher gears. The lower the gear the more prone to jerking they are. Just hit the gas in 1st, let off and hit it again. Try that in all gears and you will see what I mean.

No ultragauge or scangauge here. When I release the gas and press the clutch, the RPMs drop.

I notice that the slower I release the clutch, the smoother the shift is. I can release it pretty fast in the higher gears without jerking.

You just have to learn a process that'll result in smooth shifts.

The lower gears will ALWAYS be more sensitive to throttle inputs and clutch release... Because mechanical advantage, same thing with 10, 15, 20 speed bikes.

1st gear will always be the most sensitive to how you release the clutch and how much throttle you give the car. 2nd gear will be the 2nd most sensitive, 3rd will be smoother, 4th smoother still, and 12th gear if we had one would be the least sensitive and smoothest gear.

my 1st to 2nd isn't often times not smooth either... it's a mixture of the clutch release position and the amount of gas you're giving it...too low and you'll jerk.

Have you tried keeping just a little more gas on that shift, see if that helps...with a real smooth release? (why does that sound dirty? )

I had the same problem it seems entirely random to me tho. I haven't noticed it in the past week or so.

Same thing here. I've been driving for 35+ years a numerous kind of cars and trucks, and believe am a good driver, but this clutch is so annoying... Almost always jerks on 1-2 shift and there is no way of helping it; low gas, high gas, smooth release, sudden release.. ALWAYS JERKS. I think the damping springs of the clutch disk combined with mooshie engine mounts, are the problem. SOO ANNOYING
