Anyone ever spray paint their rims?

While at autozone I saw they had this wheel spray paint an I was wondering if any of you had any experience with this because I'd like to paint the wheels on my sonic a graphite color if possible

I'm thinking I'd just have to sand the rims and apply a few thin coats correct

The stuff works pretty good. I've used on my old civic rims. Be sure to clean the wheels very good. Any brake dust or grime would cause to paint to repell from the surface. You can probably get away with just scuffing the surface with a scotchbrite pad.

Plastidip smoke would be the best choice IMHO. You don't need to sand it and if you ever change your mind you can peel it off.

How long does it typically last and as far as cleaning goes should I be careful if the type of chemicals I use or anything after I've painted them

No its more like a rubber film

I painted the wheels on my volvo with that stuff.

It turned out great. It lasted well through the 7 years my brother and I drove it. However Be sure to keep them clean the paint holds on to brake dust if you let them sit.

I went the plasidip route on the sonic... It looks ok... the dip is starting to peel off around the rim of the rim.

Because its a paint, not a powdercoat. I wouldn't use a brake cleaner. Just scrub them w soap n water. Plastidip is a removable rubber spray so if you screw up or dont like it, you peel it off and have a stock wheel again.

That glossifier doesn't work for sh*t. I tried it when doing my daughter's wheels and after three coats you couldn't see any difference.

trying to actually spray two cans at the same time and have them land in the same place is easier said than done.
