well here goes nothing..

i started with a Summit White LT 1.8L Auto

the first mod was an exhaust tip that i picked up from Auto Zone for $10

ypu dont have to do full exhaust, just the tip ?

A tip is just for looks. A full exhaust is for performance and sound.

The tip is also nice since it fills up the space in the hatchback bumper for the exhaust outlet.

I did the same thing. It looks a million times better. Why would they have a cutout if it was made to be a turndown?? The MK4 Jetta, stock, has a turndown and no cutout because it was designed for a turndown.

Speaking from experience, BE CAREFUL WHEN INSTALLING THE TIP because the rear bumper plastic melts easily and I'm going to have to spray paint my tip black so it matches the melted bumper all over it....
