I doubt it would be controlled by the brakes but it might
If it's an e-lsd type it's more than likely would at least try to act as one under normal circumstances
If you look how the *sigh* gtr *takes shower for saying the dirty name that shall never be spoken again because fanboys*
Uses its e-lsd I'm thinking it'll be more like that than anything else
But there's only one real way to find out
Sometime soon I'm planning on calling gm customer support and see if they have anything on it that could help

Unfortunately the carrier is magnetically/electronically controlled. Won't work without a ECM or BCM. I suppose one could weld or modify the diff but would give a crap ride.

If they're doing how I think they're doing it is they're just running a wire or two for each magnet ( assuming there are two ) and charging it that way with nothing fancy
Shouldn't be tooooooo to hard to spoof or something
Anyway it should be extremely hard to reverse engineer this thing if I ever get my hands on it
All else fails I can just force it to fully engage with a couple switches or something or weld it
If I'm already that far into it this thing will more than likely no longer be my DD anyway

Manual TRAX a MUST!
The ONLY thing holding me back from either a TRAX or Buick Encore is GM doesn't offer AWD in a Manual Transmission for these vehicles.
My Sonic is a 6 speed manual and I absolutely love it! :banana:
For me, shifting with a clutch enhances the driving experience. Shifting an automatic manually just isn't the same. I've got to have a clutch.

AWD M32 has a beefed up diff housing for the front transfer case to mount to. It looks like it uses a coupler pressed into the diff.
Mokka 1.4t AWD M32 transmission, p/n 55584341:
Couldn't find a p/n for the AWD diff housing or coupler. Everything is in German or Russian
Transfer case from a 1.4 M32 Vauxhall/Opel Mokka: GM 2426 3336 812481521
A similar transfer case with a longer input shaft, listed for a 1.7 diesel Mokka: GM 2426 3337
Other part numbers I ran across: GM 2426337, GM 5167972

I wonder if there's any Trax's at the wreckers nearby. Just general searches show that the wheelbase is close (255cm Trax: 252cm Sonic) and the width is close as well (177cm Trax: 173cm Sonic). Might need to look in to the rear suspensions for the Trax and see how hard it would be to stuff the rear end in to the Sonic.
Routing the exhaust out the side (Or simply moving it elsewhere) would free up the centre channel for a driveshaft.

OK, found a way, way easier option than trying to adapt the Trax. The Getrag F28 is a 4WD, 6-Speed transmission that's essentially identical otherwise to the F20... Which we know for sure already fits. It can also be run without the driveshaft attached AOK, unlike the M32, so it could be thrown in first, and the truly hard stuff figured out slowly.
I'm having a bitch of a time trying to find one, but if I can get one over here (They were only ever used in Opels and Vauxhalls, so it'll be overnight parts from Jap- I mean Europe), I'll see how much work it'd be pairing it up. Then I can worry about the super fun stuff, like routing a driveshaft, putting a differential in the back and tossing in IRS and hubs.

The trax width would be similar to what I have now with spacers. Actually a little narrower. As far as length, that is easily remedied.

Don't forget, getting dimensions close is probably the easiest step involved here. You'd have to figure out how to mount the IRS, route the driveshaft, reroute the exhaust, make sure the AWD system keeps power to the rears (As most default to FWD without the right sensor readings) and for some of us - adapt the Trax's AWD section to a manual transmission.
It'd be a damn fine challenge.
If you could get both on a lift and go from there. I wouldn't be surprised if all the bolt hole locations are there. The platform is the same.

Don't even really need to bankroll. You could try to ask some local junk yards to see if they will let you out on the yard and if they have a Trax already off the ground. Or find a friend with one, they're a decently popular car.
