Boost gauge

Has anyone figured out yet how to read the boost on the DIC. i read a while ago in an article on how do do it and i cant remember or even come across where it came to it..

There are GM cars currently in production that allow one to read boost on the DIC and/or HUD, but I do not believe the 2012 turbocharged Sonic is one.

You can probably get something that can read boost off of the OBD II port to show boost. I have been asking about this on the WOT-Tuning forum with not much respose. I plan on picking up the PLX M6 when I get back to see what that will give me. Switching to boost instead of Inst Mileage would be nice as well though.

Ultra Gauge works for me and Scan Gauge works also.

I believe there are other products that use the OBDii in addition to those two.

In addition to showing boost, there are other items that could be shown on the DIC (tire pressure comes to mind - if OnStar can read it than the DIC should also be able to read and display it) but GM has chosen not to go that route.

I think that all goes with price point with our cars. My 2012 SLT Sierra Crew Cab and my wifes 2012 Regal GS show tire pressure. The car knows what the pressure is to be able to tell you what when they are low, but you know this.....

I would like to install an actual gauge, just need to find out where to tap in the vacuum lines. So far they all seem plastic so tapping in would be harder and would probably void some kind of warranty?

Comes down to personal preference. I have only used mechanical and will prob continue to do so. I feel the installation is much easier/cleaner to split a line and run another vacuum line to the ****pit rather. But I guess the downside is you increase the risk of a vacuum leak if done incorrectly.

Straton, I think I am going with the ScanGaugeII as well. Were do you have yours mounted? I can't decide if I am just going to velcro it to the top of the steering column or drop the extra cash to have it mounted to the review mirror.

Thanks Alan I think i will use the mechanical gauge then; my dads a pipe fitter so i can drag him out to help so i don't think i'll have to worry about any leaks.

Well actually I'm using an Ultragauge it's a little different...but I have a pic of it in my build thread and in my garage check it out... It came with windshield suction mount and I just put it in the lower Corner.

Just checked it out, not bad at all. An A Pillar pod for the gauge would look great and keep it just about where you have it. I think it's even a little cheaper than the ScanGaugeII.

the new garmins with eco route hd on them along with the blue tooth adapter can read boost rpms coolant temp and many other things, pretty nice actually

Just checked it out, not bad at all. An A Pillar pod for the gauge would look great and keep it just about where you have it. I think it's even a little cheaper than the ScanGaugeII.
