An end of day update on this process. I was at my dealer for just short of four hours for this 'simple' software upgrade. Granted, I was their first one ... but c'mon, GM, FOUR HOURS??? I only have kudos for the dealer. I was there with my dog (they're very dog friendly), and people from the dealership brought dog biscuits down to the waiting room and were very apologetic about how this was going.
The service manager was beside himself, though. At about the 3 1/2 hour mark, they had the upgrade installed but couldn't get bluetooth to pair. The service manager called whoever they call at GM, and, after waiting on hold and then starting to talk to someone, they put him on hold and then hung up on him. (That was when he threw his water bottle on the floor.) To his credit, he went and got a district manager on the phone, who somehow connected him to someone who could help. Just shy of the four hour point, they got bluetooth to connect.
They were really trying, but from watching them, this was not a well thought out upgrade. They were really frustrated with it, and apologized a number of times that this shouldn't be taking this long, even if I was the first one to get it.
When I was driving home the service manager called me on my cell to ask if everything was working fine, and said he wanted to give me my next service free because of all the hassle. I thought that was really nice of them. But still, it should never have taken this amount of time.
One word to anyone who goes to their dealer --- ask if they've done this before. If not, expect that your dealer may have the same problems as mine.
And because of the Bringgo "your phone isn't compatible" issue I posted about before, I still don't have Bringgo, which is the reason I went for the upgrade in the first place.
