Doesn't actually apply to the Sonic, since we don't have a throttle pedal, just a "torque request" pedal. But it's the old term for a floored accelerator.

What I have noticed is a slightly more pronounced swoosh sound from the bpv after doing this mod but the turbo spool sounds about the same. The biggest difference is improved throttle response.

An update:
I did this mod back on March 30th last year and now, nearly eighteen months later, I had some maintenance in the form of replacing the vacuum cap on the t-fitting. It had cracked and almost fallen off. My ultragauge let me know there was a pending code, and when I opened the hood I heard the whistling. It was easy enough to find the source. I fixed it on my lunch break.
Not a big deal by any means, but it's something to note. I'll admit it was super rewarding lunch break after I got that done. I guess with all that...

How terribly will the car drive with the vacuum leak?
I just pulled the hose on the canister off of the bottom of the IM and it make a hiss as if there were still vacuum in there.... I'm concerned the canister is switched in some way which might mean it's not fit for being connected to the BPV.
JB welding the bottom left barb I broke back on seems like it won't be reliable... I'd like to JB weld it shut and find another vacuum source if possible.
If anyone can help me out it'd be greatly appreciated! I had hoped to be done this this in 10 minutes....

Everything was put back together and the car is now running really rough.... This was supposed to be a quick 10 minutes and it's turned into a nightmare. I'm now without a car on my birthday weekend....

I'm going with "yup, he's all good to go".
On another note, after reading every post in this thread there was a question asked in the early pages that was never satisfactorily answered.
To only the people that have an Automatic and no other mods done:
Have you noticed any improvement?
If so, what were they?
I ask because I have noticed that the auto box on this vehicle seems for lack of a better word....wonky. It seems to hesitate, or pause in a small way before deciding to go to the next shift when at less than halfish throttle.
I'm comparing this to a SAAB 9-3 (2.0L 4cyl with a stock small turbo). Yeah, I know... Apples and oranges, but it is just a reference point.

Because "halfish" throttle is like "maybe I want to bang my lady." You're not being clear. Hit that ****, or don't...
The transmissions first priority is economy. Therefore when you are in drive it is going to try and save you fuel and keep the RPMs low.
If you want more definitive response from the transmission put it in manual mode. However in manual mode you are the one that needs to decide when the up shift happens for economy purposes
it's not the size, it's how you drive it....
