Very pro write up. And super awsome
So is this mod a bad idea with the stock clutch? I can't imagine all these people ready to jump on this mod have upgraded clutch kits.
I have already bought my supplies for the project, but.. what is regulating boost at this point? Obviously we still have the waste gate but the blow off gives the last bit of control for how much boost. Are the members who've done it, hitting boost numbers higher than intended or does the cap stay at 22.5? Just want to make sure before people blow head gaskets. Believe me I want to install the setup now I just want to make sure
It depends on how much trq you're making. My car was making over 250 trq before it did this mod. That's already pushing the limits of the clutch. Based on graph posted on the forum, most BPU/tune guys on here make 190-205 trq.
The BOV is NOT a component of boost control. The ECM controls boost via a solenoid connected to the wastegate. Doing this mod should not effect peak boost, and if it does it is slight.
Just wondering, would this affect the ECM's ability to go in "limp home" mode?
Good info here thanks to everyone!
