Wow !! What a difference two pieces of foam make!! The engine would growl and buzz at more than the 2K to 3K RPM range. Now it is smooth and quiet. The buzzing was definitely in that range and worse when it was colder. But before it would occur across the majority of the power band, the car would create what I thought was intake or exhaust growl. It is now gone. Which is nice. I also think there may have been an unintended side effect. In other cars that I have owned in the past, phantom knock would create problems, throw CELs and pull timing. It is possible that that the vibration was creating enough noise in the knock sensor receiver that it could not adequately adjust for true knock. My butt dyno says power deliver from 2k to 3.5k is smoother. It could be the placebo effect but it definitely feels different.
Long story short; finding the vibration made an improvement in the car.
I hope this helps your issue.
