Change color of Chevy bowtie for under $10

I just joined the group but i bought my vinyl today in matte black. Going to do the same to mine. I plan to black out the bowties on the wheels too until i get the black 16 factory wheels painted.

As a test, I did my bowties in electrical tape, turns out I don't like red any more than I like the gold, and efforts to make a half red/half black looked even worse to me. Full black I like, so I bought a sheet of flat black at Pep Boys, I guess I'll look around and see where else I can use the rest of it.

Thats verry dificult on the wheels!

I've tape it off and spray it mat black much easyer

i whant to spray also the bowtie on steering wheel

I did my bowties with red vinyl...just ordered some carbon fiber vinyl to switch it up eventually. Has anyone done the little bowties on the wheels with vinyl? I'd like them to match but it doesn't look easy to do them (no crevice to do the razor blade).

As an update for cost. Check Ebay for 'Vinyl Samples'. They come in mainly 1" x 8" but I was able to find a sheet that was 4" x 8" for $.99 shipped.

With my Ebay bucks I should have Black Carbon Vinyl here for ONLY $.02

Using a razor blade or spray can in direct proximity to paint or chrome is a non-starter for klutzy me. Wish there was a printable stencil pdf with correct dimensions (hint, hint). Cut out by tracing and then apply them like stickers. Found a few stickers on ebay from overseas sellers (searching chevy bowtie logo vinyl) but dunno about suitability; besides, I wanna use a more exotic color vinyl.

Well need some tips I have failed twice to vinyl my front bowtie. The first and second time I have tried to put the vinyl on take away the bubbles but am having trouble cutting around the corners of the bowtie. I try to use my fingernail as a guide but I keep messing up. Also after I failed the first time now I got glue all over the chrome part of the logo. How do I clean the chrome part and put the vinyl on correctly?

Use soap and water or alcohol and water. Them just take a piece and stick it on. I like to do it like a bandaid. Meaning i peel the paper backing as i lay it as to not touch the glue. Smooth as you go with finger or a tool u can get at walmart or a credit card. Once you lay it just get a blade and follow the chrome, the gap should allow the blade to cut smoothly.

So you're saying leave half the sticker still attached to the paper. The sticker that is left open peel on then make the indentation and make my cut while I'm still applying it to the rest of it?

That may be a better option seems like this sticker would probably come off after you send your car through a car wash. If I decide to go to plastidip where would i find this?

ours goes thru the car wash 3-5 times a week and the vinyl has yet to peel :banana:
