Thats why i am very happy with my sonic. Its very Manly. I think thats how you would spell it? ok, lets say it like this, the sonic is very aggressive and bold, BAM, in your face im ready to go have some fun. I dont see that in the spark. Its too small and as JT said, its looks more to appeal to the woman spectrum than the male spectrum. I checked one out and its nothing special to it at all in my opinion. But to everyone there own. some will like it, and some wont. name of the game...

Agreed. They def remind me of the smart car. They probably parallel park like a dream but I wouldn't get it to have as my only car

The Spark is definitely not a dude's car.

I have driven Cavaliers since i started driving and now drive a Sonic (renamed Aveo). Neither of which are know as manly vehicles. I would have no issue driving a Spark if i was after a city car.

So is a Cavalier and the Sonic will end up in the same classification. I could care less though. I still have my 98 Z24 and totaled 02 Z24. After a while you get used to driving a girly car.

I may actually look for a 03-05 to swap in a Quad 4. Would be a future project though since the extra funds would need to be available first. Also want to turbo the 4.3 in my 96 K1500. Once again that takes extra funds.

The Spark isnt that bad looking of a car. No more girly looking than any of the other cars in its class, maybe a little less than some of them. I would drive one if I needed a car like that. Im not afraid to drive a car like that.

I had a sunfire for 8 yrs and it was considered a girls car and no one had a problem with me driving it. Alot of guys actually loved my sunfire. Not saying that if its a so called girls car guys cant drive them, its just alot of guys probably wont be buying the spark anytime soon when they can have a sonic thats just all around much better for the price and what you get from it.

If i was to buy a spark, it would be for just a good laugh or when i needed to make small runs around town. nothing to be taken serious or have a ton done to it. Not a everyday kind of vehicle and be the only one you have. if you already have a personal car and wanted to have something just to have sh** and Giggles in. then, yeah i could see a guy driving one. I myself just dont see them as practical. just my .02c is all.

I have 2 used 2.3 blocks and a production style Rocket Parts block (basically a brand new unfinished block pulled off the line somewhere around 20 years ago). My buddy has a Calais 442 W41. Fun car with 190 HP and about 2400 pounds.

I have thought about the idea of a swap into the Sonic once the warranty is up and the engine calls it quits.

Yeah those W41 motors were a lot of all motor power for back in the day. Only issue on the 2.3L's was the head gasket, as the lining between cylinders seemed to be to small. Burned the head gasket out. 2.4L was improved on this, but not perfect as it still happened.

I am one of the few that will trust a 2.3 more than a 2.4 and I trust a 2.4 more than a 2.2 L61.

Seeing as how the Sonic and Spark engines are based on engines that have been around for years I am sure that they worked out any potential issues that the Q4/TC and "ECOtec" engines had.

Mine was 2000 Pontiac Sunfire SE Sedan with a 2.2L Inline-4cyl.
This car i had done a Ton of stuff to it. A Pacesetter Monza Exhaust system 2.5in Pipes, Magnaflow Hi-Flow Catalytic Converter and downpipes. Upgraded Autolite Double-Platinum Spark Plugs and Autolite Professional wires. Several other engine tweaks and mods. AEM Cold Air Intake System. Crystal Clear Tail Lights. Chrome Rims. Custom Seats, 400w Sound System with Upgraded SonyXplod Front and Rear Speakers and a 12" Polk Audio db Subwoofer. SonyXplod CD Deck. That system was loud!! Knocked off my rearview mirror countless times from it vibrating the car so much. I had a blast in this car.

Then it reached 105,000 miles and it just was doing nothing but breaking down and giving out. So i traded it in towards the 2012 Chevy Sonic i Bought. I got $1,500 for it as a credit towards my Sonic. Couldnt beat that especially as bad of a shape as it was in mechanically. had it for 8yrs before it gave on me. Id say i got alot out of it for being a car that was known for nothing but problems wouldnt you say?!

My 98 has about 160K on it and the engine in my wrecked 02 has about 220K (body has about 106K). I played around with the engine to much and after a failure i needed an engine to put in. A 190K one came along for free so in it went. My 02 has been supercharged and turbocharged along with a short stint with some big cams while it was N/A. I still want to do a mild build to about 300 HP in my 98.

So far I have only noticed them at the one dealer by my house, but I am sure more than a few Detroit area dealers have them. Might go check one out today as an option for my fiance to look into.

Hamilton Chevrolet is just a couple milesaway from my house. I think they are up to 3 or 4 right now. Buff Whelen is the dealer that my family has used for years, but they lied to me when i was looking for a Sonic so I wont even look at their lot.
