Just did my first "long" trip in the sonic (2 hrs).

Among many other observations (mostly positive, though I have to say: man those seats are terrible for me) I noticed something kind of humorous.

Anyone else notice the reflection of the coffin the windshield? It is a small piece of plastic that surrounds what I think is the key fob remote sensor straight down from the mirror at the base of the windshield. Kinda morbid. I love it.

Yep. I always thought it was a terrible design to put in a car. I notice it every time and I knew exactly what this post was going to be about just from reading the title.

That has actually never really bothered me before. Now it will likely drive me nuts after this post.

The seats however, I find very comfortable and have sat in those seats for 24,000 miles now. I understand, comfort is in the eye of the beholder though. -- I didnt really research the OP. What seats do you have? Leather or cloth? (Isnt there 2 different cloth seats too)? I mean comfort levels, not just colors.

I am sorry you find the car uncomfortable though. It makes a bad ride if your not comfortable. Maybe you can buy some cushions/pillows/ETC to make your ride better for you.

I knew the seats didn't suit me well going in (leather LTZ seats). I suspect it is in large part the headrests. There are already a number of long threads on that and I don't want to start another one here...

I have some ideas on how to adjust/modify them but I'll hold off posting them till I get a moment to dig into it further.

In the meantime, try to stay away from funeral dirge music while driving

That would be the automatic headlights sensor.
No idea where the keyfob sensor is but it's not there.

Man my entire drive to work this morning I was trying to see this coffin but maybe I didn't have enough sun reflecting?? But if I haven't noticed it yet in the past 2 years then not sure if I will LOL.

No idea what you guys are talking about... I can see the red tack needle on my side window at night, that's about all the reflections I know...

I'll snap a pic in the morning and post it. In meantime, if you are really desperate to see it, you have to look for it in the daytime. Right where the window meets the dash, dead center (pun intended), there is a small hemisphere that is, apparently, the sensor for the automatic lights. Surrounding that sensor, flat on the dash, is the coffin shaped bit of plastic. During the day, sunny days especially, you can see it reflecting in the window.

But like I said, I'll post a pic tomorrow.

The reflection of the dash in the windshield on this car is ridiculous. The shorter you are, the worse it is. I had to change detail sprays as it was causing terrible glare for the Mrs. Polarized shades tone it down a bit but still...

I've noticed the area where the alarm LED and light sensor are many times but never noticed the coffin... That's awesome.

I haven't noticed anything.

On the seats... I find them very comfortable after I kept messing with the adjustments. I like that they are firm and not really spongy. My old Corolla had spongy seats which would make your a$$ fall asleep after an hour on a road trip.

Hadn't noticed.
I have noticed a high amount of refection over all so I wear polarized shades on sunny days so that might be why I have not noticed the "coffin".
