And you may be right about the series of small, I just put my TTR mounts in so I can't hear it very clear over the mounts.
The more I think about it, it may not be fully related to the BOV mod. If you're letting off the throttle at all, the BPV comes into play because it's seeing the throttle plates close somewhat, and that's its purpose.
It may be a bit of both, depending on the exact throttle position and conditions. It becomes even less clear with these drive-by-wire models, as they can change throttle opening even if we don't move our foot.

I have the mount sitting here waiting to go in and I'm awaiting delivery of the mpfab fmic. Looks like neither will go on today like I planned due to fedex. Lol

So I read this forum and bought the hot air Injen intake beforehamd considering my likeness of their intake system for my Prelude. I liked the idea of fabricating it to look like the ZZP intake... Will the intake hold upright with just the rubber connector to the turbo or will I have to put a mount bracket in? In case people aren't familiar with the Injen intake, it has a built in mount that plugs into where the stock mount sits.

Was just reading on the Trifecta tune (too bad their in FL, I'd drive there in person and have them do it for me)... I hear it's amazing...

1.4 turbo DDM intake without heatshield.
As long the car is moving, my intake temp stays within 5 or 10 degrees of ambient.
Stopped in bumper to bumper, I have seen intake temp go as high as 150°F. As soon as you start moving above roughly 10mph the temp drops back down.
Whether the added expense of a heat shield is worth it is up to the individual. For me, that answer was and still is no. I would be interested to see some numbers from someone with the shield for comparison.
Damn, I have been looking for these posts for awhile now, couldn't find them.
I have the MPFab intake and a UG, so I couldn't take a photo. Moving I stay 7-9*F of ambient, parked it easily shoots up 20*F. I don't think the black car is helping my parked temps at all.
I'd like to see a thread on this, as River Rat's numbers are the lowest I've ever seen claimed from anyone. IMO it would be as useful as the grams/sec thread.

Could be interesting for someone to start a thread like that.
With the DDM and heat sheild I never saw more than 5-8 over ambient unless stopped.
I now have the mpfab fmic which forced me to remove the rs stock diverter and I think that is the difference the diverter pushed the fresh air from the lower grill into the Intercooler with that gone I think the fresh air is finding it way up into the fender well where it had access to the intake. I'm now only seeing 2-5 over ambient.
Could be a flook but who knows. River rat is only showing 2 degrees over ambient in his picture so I dunno.
Btw my numbers are using an ultra gauge.

Correct me if i am wrong but doesnt the ultraguage display the IAT after the intercooler? If so then the IC is most likely for the reason of lower IAT's imo.
I actually have a DDMworks intake with heatshield and i too see between 5-8 over ambient.

Pretty sure it's a maf reading. Reason I say that is cause just adding the Intercooler wouldn't change the sensor position on either side and I was using the UG before and now.

Would be cool if we could see the sensor on the other side. I'd say that the sonic doesn't report it's values unless something is wrong. Which is provably why the UG doesn't see it.

Interesting, I hope I don't derail this thread too much but, when i become heatsoaked from sitting in traffic my IAT reading skyrockets to 140+. I always assumed this was the temp that the IC became which cause loss of power since it is too hot to function. Instead it sounds like its more of a under hood temp that's rising and the IC cant keep up?

When your sitting still there isn't much air coming through at idle. No cooling effect this the temp raises when your moving your pushing a lot more air through cooling everything off.

Thread dig, but if anyone comes across this information, I'd prefer it to be accurate.
When I made this post, I was comparing my UG Intake *F to the ambient *F on my headunit. Once I used UG numbers for both, they became much closer.
At a stop (without having the engine compartment heatsoaked) I'm within 10*F of ambient.
Above 10MPH I'm very rarely 2*F above ambient, usually less.
I'll add pics when i can find them.

This is true, as the intercooler becomes more efficient and depending on your tune configuration you won't have to compress the air as much to reach the charge density required for your target power- but I don't know enough about the Sonic's ECM programming to be sure on that.
As for my earlier post, they're pretty comparable to the other shared numbers, as my photos were taken months ago and I forgot to post them here at the time, just in the UG/SG thread.

And here is what the headunit called ambient, taken seconds after the first.
I don't have slow-moving temps, and it is indeed much cooler outside now, so they wouldn't be as accurate. Maybe I'll take a new set if I think of it.
