DDMworks Silicone options for the 1.4L

We have several different silicone options for the 1.4L Sonic available now!

*** All kits come with new hose clamps (not pictured) ***


Coolant lines

The first set is the coolant tubes closest to the turbo that take the most heat, a total of 4 tubes. You can find more information on those here:

Charge Tubes

The second set is the charge tubes that go from the turbo to the intercooler and from the intercooler back to the engine, a total of 4 pieces.

Lastly, we have the combo kit that includes both the coolant and the charge tubes in one package, 8 tubes total.

Do the charge pipes offer any better flow over stock?

I'm sure flow would be slightly improved but the biggest factor would be increased increased insulation from heat soak and less expansion than the stockers.

Yeap, but it also allows us to offer an upgraded intercooler soon

The coolant install took about an hour to do, as the upper radiator hose clamp at the radiator was in a really weird position to get to.

All of the charge tubes took about 1.5 hours, and that includes taking off the bumper and putting it back together.

I am working on the actual instructions now, so that the first kits are shipping tomorrow

From the pictures in the "little tester had a good day" thread, I assume these pipes are being offered in different colors? I am stuck on blue as of late.

Wouldn't these silicone pipes hold off heat significantly better than aluminum? Or would you wrap the aluminum in header tape or something?

I think aluminum is the best option but also the most costly. But they will provide more turbo sound when spooling

Dave, was pulling the front bumper necessary or just something you've gotten use to doing? The pics with no bumper looked nice as well. I would think that you could do most of it with just pulling the lower air dam.

Yes that adds noise too. I think the bumper has to come off, you might be able to wiggle down there tho

Yeah, I'm not sure. I was up under the car quite a bit before I left but I wasn't messing with the intercooler. I think it might be tight but getting to the hidden bolt was tight as well as the BOV/BPV swap.

No, tightening up the exhaust. Had a few leaks at the joints, hit them with the impact gun. I was up front in that area while swapping the BOV for the Forge BPV.

Yes, the silicone tubing is a much better insulator then the aluminum tubing would be. Also the silicone is very smooth on the inside and it also moves with engine rock without putting stress on the connections. The only reason we can see to do an aluminum charge tube, would be on the drivers side upper tube so that an external blow off valve could be fitted. However, we are making a section that will go in these silicone tubes to be able to install an external blow off valve that can be used with the new block off plate we are in production of.
