Depends in my opinion,
When said shaft breaks what happens to the wheel? Does it leave the car in a hurry or hang around?
In two years, what do you think a person could pick up a good used very basic but still 1.4t m/t 2012 for price wise?
In our cars? It will stay right where it belongs. The axle does not hold the wheel in place.
Anyone have a link for where to buy the M32? I cant find one. Also it does work on the 1.8? Just making sure.

Searching: m32 Cruze producing tons of results on eBay
The Cruze has been around longer and the transmissions are showing up. Look at the manual gear ratio sticky in the Trans Discussion thread if you want to pick one for your Sonic.
Or just keep checking for m32 Sonic. They are bound to pop up once in a while.

FACT: 09 Focus SES can NOT beat a tuned Sonic to a merge. Even with a carlength head start. It had to be so dissapointing seeing me walk right by in a long second gear.
Get thee behind me, faaaag.
I am certain he ended up behind me. I am only speculating about his dissappointment.
Things that suggest I'm right? 1) One traffic light earlier he got his testes in a twist when he heard my exhaust and showed his intent by accelerating and overtaking me briskly only to get caught beside me at the next light. 2) I observed his front driver side wheel fighting for traction on the damp ground upon launching from the second light.
Other observations: His gears are shorter than mine and his 1-2 shift is about as quick as my grandmother's sprint.
I am sure about that statement. Even at peak tq, the Focus had less than a stock turbo Sonic. Also the SES's 140hp doesn't happen til close to redline. Opticon was seeing at least 140hp from 4k up with his tuned 1.4T.
Well it wasn't rediculously imbalanced. He at least FELT like he had a chance. So my only complaint is a tuned Sonic vs a stock focus isn't entirely fair.
