Enkei EV5

Thinking about getting some aftermarket wheels in the near future, have my eyes on a set of 17" bronze EV5's. I have a black Sonic hatch, what do y'all think? I read somewhere on here that if I switched to 18's I'd have to re-calibrate my speedometer, hope that's not the case with 17's

Wheel diameter has nothing to do with recalibrating your speedo. It's the tires overall diameter (height) that effects this. If you use the same tire height as the stock tire you will not have any problems even if 20" wheels would fit this car. The problem lies where you want more side wall than an extremely low profile tire on the bigger wheels, that increases tire height and affects your speedo. Taller tire height equals a slower reading speedo, shorter tire height equals a faster speedo reading.

that's exactly what I meant (as far as overall diameter and not just the wheel), sorry I forgot to mention that Wouldn't a very low-profile tire take out some of the ride comfort?

Yes, that's the big delima. Ride comfort, looks and functionality all play into this. The LTZ wheels run a similar tire height to the 15's and they handle better but they are not as plush. There is always tuning to get your tire height choice set and you avoid the issue of tire height and get better performance and with transperancy mode from Trifecta it doesn't even show that anything was done to the car's PCM/TCM (at the tech level, the tech wasn't sure what would happen if the PCM was sent to GM even if returned to stock).

The only thing I don't like about the EV5's is the universal bolt pattern. Something about the extra holes makes them look cheap. JMO.

Once the rims are on your car, you won't even notice the extra holes. At least that is my experience.

I love my EV5's but if I got a chance to do it all over I'd probably go with the Enkei EDR9. They have a 17X8 size that I would prefer. I'd be able to go with 235/45/17 or 245/40/17. Two months ago I wasn't sure of the correct offset required for 8 inch rims.

Its a chop... the wheels are still in the box... im not going to put them on until i get my coilovers..

You chopped them a little big if they are 17s with a 45 series tire. Try leaving something more like 3.5" of sidewall.

The chop is intended to be the 18x7.5 with a 215/35/18
It's about .25in off of overall stock diameter in real life, which was taken into consideration when I shoped it. With Pedders Coilovers I should be able to drop the car to about that low...

That's going to look great when you get them on. I'm trying to decide between the LTZ, Cruze Eco, Sparco and Enkei's. If I go with the later two I will probalby go with 18's.

So far I'm loving my Enkei RSF5. I was gonna go with the EV5 but idk if it's the strip or universal bolt pattern, just not feeling them.

I saw some nice Enkeis that had a staggered look to them (not rpf1) I can't for the life of me find them again. Some cobalt had them around the colbslt forums

I really think u should go with these white wheels instead

If I had more money and didn't just buy coilovers I would, but my wheels are dope so not the end of the world. My girl would have my head if I bought another set of wheels.

They are Motegi MR122 18x8. I want to get 8.5 wide or 9 but can't find many good ones with our bolt pattern
