It looks like a great place to hold CD's besides giving you a perfect place to rest your arm. That's what I miss the most on Dodge Dakota R/T 60/40 split seat. I'll probably get one too.

I haven't even signed any papers and I'm already making a list of things I want to modify with this car. This is near the top of that list as the stock arm rest SUCKS. And I just love having a center console compartment to throw keys in and whatever little junk I use on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, I have no choice. The stock arm rest is the biggest piece of crap in the world and my right arm requires something to lean on when I drive. I've always had padded center consoles for that and I almost bought the Cruze because the Sonic didn't have one. Then I saw this thread and was like :banana:.

Just received mine today and installed it. Given the choice between the steaming pile of sh*t known as the stock armrest and this console/armrest, I'll gladly take this one ANY day. I use the armrest 100% of the time I'm driving, so this is all about comfort for me, and the stock armrest failed miserably in that department. This new armrest is the perfect height and it's cushy, too.

So I lose one cup holder out of the 5 in the car...who needs that many anyway?!

Actually, you didn't post a pic of the other angle showing where the armrest used to be.

THKPIC, it doesn't leave a big hole where it used to be, but the metal stem sticking out that the arm was attached to is somewhat noticeable. It's only about an inch or so, but no big deal. Having a larger, level armrest with the console makes me forget about the metal stem sticking out.

I have just one other question. With all that weight do you have any concerns that it might damage the cup holder its secured to? Or does it seam pretty solid. I think I'm just going to go ahead and buy this since it's so cheap.

I don't believe there are any weight issues. The cup holder it is secured into is pretty solid. The only thing I don't like is that the existing "console" (if that's what you want to call it) with the three cup holders is not mounted very well. You can see what I mean by going out to your car and "rocking" the whole structure back and forth. This rocking ability translates *slightly* to the installed armrest/console, but it's only a minor annoyance. But if you're like me and prefer having a larger armrest, it's easy to deal with compared to having to use the crappy stock armrest.

For the price, I have no regrets installing this.

just rec'd this from ebay (china) (2012 Chevrolet Chevy Sonic Aveo Barina Black Leather Armrest Centre Console Box | eBay), i believe theres an issue b/c the bottom plate of the compartment is already attached to the bottom and i have no way of screwing in the 4 screws that secure the armrest to the bottom plate. any suggestions? am i missing something? i mean i have the bottom two pieces screwed together and i see how they line up, but no way to screw them in???
