Free Sonics

I'm not an owner of a Sonic just yet but it is something I'm looking at and assume that sooner or later I will own one.

I just heard a commercial for a dealer in my area that is saying if you buy a vehicle (Yes a Chevy dealer) on Black Friday or the Saturday after and it snows
on Christmas eve your vehicle will be FREE.

They said it's the first time anyone has done this is this area.

Has anyone ever seen or heard of a deal like this?

It's usually has to be a certain amount of snow, not just "if it snows". Stores do this promotion a lot. They buy an insurance policy to protect them if they actually have to pay out. With the weather this year, I bet they have to pay quite a bit more for that policy!

I heard the ad on the radio. I went to the dealer's website but didn't find any info on that promotion. They only listed 4 Sonic's 3 LS and 1 LT so maybe they are just trying to get rid of the 14's they have on the lot.

I would like to see the rules. Probably 4" of snow in their parking lot between the hours of
6-8 pm under an overhang. So it would have to be a miracle to get a free vehicle.

I searched other dealers lots and there where not a lot of Sonic's in stock especially
with the 1.4 and manual Transmission.

Hell, if you're going to buy one anyway... I don't think they'll have that promotion here in Denver. If I were you I'd buy one and then hire an Indian chief to come and do a dance for me.

A jeweler in our area did that last year. The snow fall had to be registered at O'Hare airport.

Yeah, its usually a National Weather Service site that they use to measure.

A jeweler in my area offers this every year; your diamond is free if there's at least 3 inches of snow between 6 p.m. and midnight on Xmas eve. They haven't had to pay off very often, and as Sonic points out, they have insurance to cover that eventuality. (in this case, a 1.2 million dollar one) Meanwhile, anyone with a gambling bug ends up buying more rock than they intended because that way the "free" will be bigger.

On the other hand, if you intended to buy a car anyway, go in, get your best deal, then when it's all down to the signature, tell the dealer you'll be back on Friday. So what if it's a 1 in 20 chance... better than the 0 chance I got when I bought mine!
