The stock shifter knob is removed easily with some right and left torque.
After removing the debris I ordered a shifter adapter that allows for threaded knobs to be put on our non-threaded shifter shaft.
After attaching the 10x1.5 thread from TWM that came with my Type R 6 speed patterned shift knob the adapter & male threads were placed onto the shifter shaft.
Then the knob was screwed in place
The entire assembly was then rotated until the pattern was centered.
The set screws were then tightened and my aftermarket shifter was complete and it is awesome, the added height makes shifting a breeze and the weight gives that effortless feel into gears.
For those of you that may want a stock height shifter I'd suggest going to a machine shop and inquiring about a tap and dyed cylinder that would be 10x1.5 on the outside to accept a threaded shifter. The internal diameter would have be comprable to the shifter shaft maybe even slightly larger. The adapter kit comes with neoprene sleeves that are inserted into the base of the adapter to ensure a snug fit and this concept could be applied to a machined tap and dyed that has a slightly larger inner diameter in order to give a stock height shifter.
