Gas Brands:Who do you prefer?

Hey guys just thought I'd start a thread on personal opinions on gas stations I usually use shell or Conoco. But who do you like to use to quench your sonics thirst?

I usually don't get to be picky, E85 stations are hard to come by, and frankly after you've had corn all dinosaurs seem the same, so if I have to put up with gasoline I take whatever's cheap, or maybe I luxuriate in being able to hit a Sheetz or Turkey Hill.

In PA I go to my local gas station, Molly's, which gets Worley and Obetz gas including E85 (they also stock biodiesel). Down here in Texas it's Krogers, or down south of here (Waco?) I did fill up once on HEB. Those seem to be the only choices. I am loving the 2.80 a gallon price!

So far what I've fed my turbo has agreed with it quite well. I've had a Shell bias somewhat, though Marathon and Sam's club gas has regularly been in rotation. Just depends on where I'm at.

If I'm running a non-top tier brand, I try to sneak a Shell tank in at the next refuel if I can.

Best tank over my first 4k was with Marathon 93, 42.1 MPG.

I prefer Shell or Exxon Mobil. Theres a few other brands I'm alright with running.

I avoid Casey's gas because it's proven multiple times to deliver poor results and doesnt do to good on some at home tests ive done.

I used to run BP in my cars for awhile and my racebike for longer. but a few years ago it started attacking the seals on the fuel level needle (turn the gas on and it would dump out the carb overflow). Dont know if they did something with their formula but It was part of the reason I wont run BP fuel.... that and There propensity for poor running business ethos. (oil spill is one of several examples)

I will not buy BP gas either for similar reasons... opcorn:

Used to run SUnoco exclusively in my 02 Z24 as the engine in it loved 94 Octane (not a stock engine by any means). Ran BP for a long time, but they are not convenient and reasonably priced by my house. Now I use the same Marathon station as much as possible. Probably 90% of my fill ups have been at that station and most of those at the same pump.

My fords loved the cheap sheetz brand gas but I have yet to find a station around me the sonic loves. It runs fine on the sheetz 93 though

I put gas in it, sometimes e85,
but usually some sort of fuel. If she's running weird, I throw some cranberry juice in because that stuff fixes anything.

mine gets shell most of the time once in awhile i use bp only when i have too . where iam from i know a guy whos a foreign car repair guy a few times ayear he test the gas in our area hes told me shell and bp are the best in our area . used to have an old bmw 325i everytime caseys gas was put in it it ran like crap .

I just did my first fill up today with chevron Regular and it surprised me now im getting 38 mpg I was using Conoco gas and I was getting 27 32 sitting in traffic

I usually run either BP Ultimate (seeing's how it's the closest station to me with the highest-quality gas in town) or, if I know I'm going somewhere that has a Shell station, I'll try and make sure the tank's low enough to put some Shell V-Power in. I do prefer the Shell though.

being in the Chicago area means gas prices are up, so cheapest gas takes precedence with all the driving I do. Thankfully there's a Thornton's just around the corner from my place, which is often between 10-25 cents cheaper than other stations in the area, pretty staggering at times. Great location too, clean and has an inviting interior

Better yet, it's one of the few places that carries a ton of rarer/newer types of Monster. (weird, I know, but I'm an insomniac and need some hefty kicks at times)

honestly I don't think I'd have ever had to give a serious critique of a gas station but this place goes above and beyond both price and look in the area. Hell if I can personally tell the difference in quality of the fuel, I don't run tests and haven't had an issue with gas ever

I prefer Shell V-Power 93 and use it every 4th or 5th tank. It's usually 20 cents more per gallon though. I normally frequent the cheaper BP 93 and Exxon 93. I have no problem with Citgo, Marathon/Chevron, Sunoco, etc. I would probably frequent the Sunoco stations more often if I drove past them more frequently. About the only brand I will bypass is Speedway/Super America, but I do fillup there on ocassion. In order of preference if price were irrelevent, and it was convenient: Shell, Sunoco, Exxon, BP, Marathon/Chevron, and Sheetz.

Gasoline arrives at regional distribution centers that all the chains/brands get their supply from and then add their own additives to so I don't see how there can be much difference from one brand to the other. It's not like Exxon makes their own base stock and Conoco makes their own.

I could see problems if you buy from a place that looks like it should be condemned and the proprietor is really up to no good, but any major brand including Costco, Safeway, etc should be so similar that you can't tell a difference, which has been my experience.
