I just ordered my parts on Amazon all 2.75" right around $45 with clamps. Question, did you guys pull the intake snorkel as well as adding the hard pipes? Just wondering if that will make any difference. No I don't want to cut up my stock air box, but I don't mind pulling the snokel if it will help. Thanks!

3" is easier to find, most major auto parts stores have the parts on the shelf. 2.75" is harder to find and might run a few dollars more.

Yeah I cut the snorkel right at the plastic piece that the box attached to..so if you look at the box you can't tell their is no snorkel. I can't say there is a big difference..probably more noise but to me with the sab their is very little noise compared to an intake...I've been going back and forth between my mpfab and hard piped air box. I think if the sab had a bigger inlet or another inlet it would be ideal for high tpms. ...but it's not bad as is. I had been dremmeling away all the extra plastic on the inside lid of sab..I think it was all there for that absorbant pad.. I see why people buy intakes because the stock ones start out good and then the engineers come up with all kinds of crazy extra stuff to put in the way of air flow for sound and emissions.
The what we're they thinking award goes to the saab engineers who put a fabric silencer tube inside the intercooler pipe to the throttle body. Lucky we don't have that.

Ok, here's mine.
1. 2.75" 60° silicone elbow
2. 2.75" to 2.25" 90° reducer
3. 2.75" pipe 4" long (they were out of 2.75" couplers)
4. 3x 80mm clamps
5. 1x 64mm clamp
Came out to $45 with shipping. I removed the snokel, just need a drop in K&N now. Thanks for all the tips guys!

I did a thing today... k&n pipe to sab!
After a few weeks of going back to stock piping just a short 5 min trip with the k&n is a noticeable difference. It definitely revs better in higher rpm and throttle response is better. Not huge but noticed.
I want to be able to change cheep stock filters frequently instead of worrying about the k&n, esp for rally purposes
No blow off noise with the stock box though... booo

Anyone still trying to do this, it's easily do-able for $35 or less.
Here's my parts list:
-Spectre Black Intake Coupler P/N 8771
-Spectre Universal Tube Elbow P/N 86681K
-Newpoint Motor 3" to 2.25" Silicone 90° reducer P/N NPM51001
Total cost $33
I will add further that I've always thought cold air intakes were dumb and didn't do anything except for help with noise. I know proper intakes can make power, though. This definitely reduces turbo lag and makes power delivery significantly bit smoother. More power? Almost certainly not. Noise isn't dramatically increased either, and I did remove the carpet snorkel in the fender lining.
