what if we had a small "vent" cut in the center of the "spoiler" to direct air flow down the back window? Like the old suv rear spoilers that helped keep the rear window clean.
That would break up the flow by sending part of the air down and causing to things one the rear window wouldnt be completely useless after 4 miles on a wet/slushy road and it might break up the air flow and reduce drag
The spoiler is actually functional. It directs airflow off the roof to reduce the low pressure bubble pulling back on the car. Putting a hole in it will increase drag on the car.
Clean up the airflow from around the rear wheel wells and under the car, and that should reduce the spray dirtying up the rear window.
It will require tuft testing to confirm, but most sedans have flow seperation off the rear window. it becomes more likely with shorter cars.
