Help finding a "load floor" for my new-to-me 2017 Hatchback RS.

Hi everyone - we recently picked up a 2017 Hatchback RS and so far we love it. When we bought it, it was missing the cargo shade and what I'm calling the "load floor panel". I was able to find the part number for the cargo shade but the load floor panel is being more of a pain.

In case you don't know what I'm talking about, this is the panel that sits a few inches above the very bottom of the cargo area that is above the spare. It is carpeted, has a handle to grab, and a cutout near the hatch's latch. I wouldn't have known it was missing if I hadn't watched various videos on Sonics before we bought it! Now I want it so I can store some small tools, jumper cables, etc. below it.

I called one local dealership and they gave me a part number that ended up being for a Cruze (84073800). It is a totally different shape. Then I called a different dealership and they gave me a part number that ended up being the thinner panel right above the spare (96936786), which our car isn't missing, so we're good there!

After some hunting, I found GM part number 95920170 which is the correct part but every site I've checked lists it as 2012-2016, I have yet to find the same part listed with 2017-2020 or 2012-2020. The site even pops up a warning saying it will not fit my 2017. Not sure if that is in error or the part really changed after 2016. So my questions are:

1. Does anyone know for sure that this part didn't change from 2016 to 2017? If that's the case, I can use the part number above. The panel isn't exactly cheap so I don't want to order it and it doesn't fit 2017+. Or...

2. Does anyone have a different part number for 2017+ if it is a different part?

Mine is from a 2015 RS and measures 38.25" (widest) x 24". The narrower end is 36" wide and is about 0.75" thick. I hope this helps and good luck!

Looked up the part # on mine and it is for a 2017 to 2019 Sonic hatch.

That's so weird though. The shelf in your last pic is definitely the piece we need but the link you sent shows the very bottom of the area (right above the spare) instead of the carpeted "shelf".

Also not sure how that part number can be 2017-2020 when your car is a 2015 and the sticker says it was made in 2014 haha.

So confused.

That's so weird though. The shelf in your last pic is definitely the piece we need but the link you sent shows the very bottom of the area (right above the spare) instead of the carpeted "shelf".

I thought their pic looked more like the spare tire cover. Hmmmm..... Might try searching online salvage yards. Could be a better price than new, too.

I couldn't find anything around here, I'd have to drive a bit to get one. Since yours has the part number clearly labeled, I wonder if the GM sites have the wrong image. Don't really want to spend that much without knowing though. Hmm...

I wonder if anyone has experience with a pre 2017 and post 2017 shelf both being the same size.

Call a GM dealer and give them my part # and ask them about it. Surely, they would know. Worth a try anyways.

I may do that and also give them the pre-2017 part number so they can look it up and see the part I'm really looking for and see which they recommend I order.
