The real question is how does the Kia soul outsell the sonic
Marketing.
I think about techno-hamsters anytime someone mentions the Kia Soul.
The "Sonic's first 'x'" commercials are completely forgettable.
If I was running around "zomg extreme!!" like the dbags from Harold and Kumar go to White Castle - I'd love the campaign.
Besides that Kia was an "up and comer" previously which translates to cheapest thing in the segment.
Although that $ benefit has gone away, it's still fresh in the minds of most people.
Buyers would be scared away by the more normal pricing but Kia can afford to put in extras people like, standard power windows, cool LED lighting available, larger engine packages, etc.
(NOT advocating Kia, buyin a Sonic TYVM, but just illustrating the idea)
Magic seat is a big deal, never know when you'll need it, especially with kids - that combined with standard auto paddle shifting made me take a long look before I took "driving experience" over the Fit.
