Okay, this may be a stupid question but I cannot find a in car trunk release for my Sonic lt. Does the car not come with one? And if it indeed doesn't am I the only one that finds this odd?
There's an interior trunk release? Or is yours a sedan?
Either body has the same trunk releases as follows...
1) Key fob which can be done from inside or outside the car
2) Exterior release on the hatch/trunk of the car
3) Interior safety handle that is inside the trunk (glows in the dark btw)
This is designed to keep you, your Sonic and the items inside it as safe as possible.
My 1.4 manual sedan key fob has lock, unlock, trunk pop, and panic.
Actually my 1.4 turbo M-6 hatchback doesn't have a key fob hatch release button; Only a lock, unlock, and a locator/panic button. My 1.8 auto. sedan has a lock, unlock, trunk release, locator/panic, and a remote start button. "My hatch seems to be 2 buttons shy of a complete fob"
Do all the key fobs for the manual trans. hatchbacks have only 3 buttons?
The only way I can open the hatch is to unlock the doors with the fob, or the unlock button on the center stack, then open with the external release button on the hatch.
Here is what mine look like:

Does anybody else have trouble releasing the trunk when the engine is on? I can only open my hatch when the engine is off and the keys are not in the ignition. I have tried using the unlock button on the key fob and inside the car to no avail. My dealer told me that it is a safety feature for the car to be off before the trunk will release, but I think he was making it up.
