I have experienced water damage but from a loose coil cover. About six months after the switch to the cf hood I had to have two spark plugs and coil packs replaced. That was a huge bill I didn't want to pay for again so I reinstalled the vent cover and my original hood insulator pad. So my vents now are just looks not function. If you have an aftet market coil cover just make sure your bolts are tight. I used threadlock on mine. I have been wanting to open my vents again. If I take off my cover and pad, I would be confident I would not have any more water damage. In the six months I had the vents open I saw no rusted or oxidized parts.

Do not know where to post this and did not want to thread jack Eric anymore. I do not want to make a big deal but yes, I have jumped to the dark side, moved on, or however else I can explain I bought a new vehicle. Like I mentioned already, I am still here, still a paid member, still going to continue SOTM if members join the competitions. You cannot get rid of me that easily and I have nothing better to do than bug you guys

Love my Sonic with all my heart! It was my first love and was always there for me. The last four years have been wonderful. I raced and showed it off every chance I got. I am thankful for the wealth of knowledge I learned here on sof. I am also glad for all the awesome people I met. My sonic has been great to me and I rarely experienced any problems. GM has also been very good to me.

Do not know what I am doing with my Sonic yet. Maybe sell it as is, maybe part out the big stuff then sell as mostly stock, or give back to a dealer. Whichever pays more or whichever comes first. Good thing is, I still have a few months to decide. I have a vehicle on order that should be delivered in the Spring. I will be the proud owner of a Porsche Macan GTS.

I wish I could keep the sonic. Only have a two car garage and I hate parking vehicles outside especially in the winter. Have never owned more than one at a time, only need a daily driver. I would not know how to split my time between the two. I do have to say I will miss the sonic's great gas milage. Probably only get 10mpg in the Macan.

That is definitely taking it easy and doing the speed limit. With launch control and 360hp I'll get 10mpg

I don't think you'll be modding that.

Let us know how maintenence etc is. Maybe it's not so bad ..I imagine the service will.be much better than gm.

Cobb sells tuning software for the Macan. Tune, accessport, and cable are upwards of $1300. With promises of 40% more power output or something. Would be nice but maybe after warranty ends.

Read about a Macan Turbo using 100 octane Cobb tune. Did 11.7 et 1/4 at 114.7mph. A girl can dream

One thing that might be an issue with moding the Mecan is this, if you're getting 10 MPG on a stock engine, imagine what you'll get if you mod it. Plus, like you said, you might be better off waiting until the warranty is over before you start pulling the trigger on mods...

If I did tune, would only use 10% of time or less like for the drag strip etc. Would not use tune 100% of time like I do in the Sonic. Should take two or three years to run through most of the warranties, I tend to drive a lot. Hopefully I can wait until then.

Well, compared to the Sonic, you now have way more power on a stock motor. Hopefully that extra power will make the wait easier.
