Wow subsonic, that's a big boy! haha I'd love the D800 or heck even the D600. But that's not happening for awhile!

I'm the same with my lenses. I've chosen to put UV filters on mine as well. Some people are against them, others for. I do because I photograph a pets a LOT and dogs barreling at me full steam is not uncommon haha. I don't need scratches, dirt, fur, and slobber all over the front glass. I rather replace a filter!

Nikon is a good camera! But so is Canon! Some people who are Nikon users dislike the Canon (and vice versa). But I have nothing against Canon whatsoever. I just went to the store and played around with them and I liked the Nikon more. Both are good camera brands.

Ya its not small, my wife in a photographer so it all works out, I have nothing wrong with Nikon, nikon has good coatings on there outdoors optics, coating is everything. Camera optics are simple concave or convex optics normally made from glass, but there surface quality is what matters. A large amount of irregularity in the optic will cause bad pictures. Lucky for us you get what you pay for in the camera world. The high quality stuff starts with the optics. A field I oh so love

BTW - Have you ever tried any HDR shots? Either way your photos are great and they already have a wide dynamic range.

subsonic, I have a lot to learn about that sort of stuff. I really like to understand the mechanics behind how things work. There is so much to photography that I don't know yet. And it can be time consuming learning it all especially since it's a hobby lol

Karmike, these photos are actually HDR. lol I just don't go for the "extreme" look. I used to but I got tired of it. I wanted more realistic looking photos.

So here's the first half of the eye candy from that day for you all

Being this isn't the first time I've taken pictures of cars I kinda know what I go back and edit out during post-production. So I would go get ready to take the picture and notice another spot I forgot to wipe clean. My towels were soaked after this! haha I missed a few snow spots on the bottom but since these were just for me I figured if I really wanted to I could edit that later lol

I took off my back plate and the waterdrops looked sweet so I snapped a few before I wiped the back end dry!

Random question, does anyone know how to take the license plate holder thing off on the mustache? I really rather not have it on there for photos. Thanks

you basically rip it off, you will end up with 4 holes in the mustache though.

I used a flat head screwdriver to break the plastic rivets into quarters then yanked the mount upwards from the bottom, hope that helps.

Mine was secured with 2 metal rivets. I drilled them out.

I was going to suggest that.
And everyone else has already answer it. You need to pull it off, and you could find some dark puddy and get some touch up paint to make it look better.

The way you photograph the car I don't think you need black rims.

It would be some work to get the stock bracket back on. I would love to take mine off but the cops around here are sticklers about the front plate.
You could always zip-tie the plate to the lower grill if you wanted.

Yeah I don't want cops pulling me over for not having it on so it might stay. If I'm ambitious or plan to print the photo I can photoshop it out haha


Speaking of photoshop, I decided sonic didn't want a mustache no more.
