You can change the radio and keep onstar. Its just the convienient settings you would lose. Like lighting and such.
I don't know how you install ten gauge power cables at the battery, ...but that's nothing I want to jimmy rig or work with hot.You shouldnt have to disconnect the battery.
Not quite. I don't think. I may be wrong. ... but I can plug a smart phone into the usb in my glove compartment and control my phone thru the steering wheel, mp3 player and all. In fact, I think I can bluetooth 4 different phones at the same time. I haven't seen an aftermarket system that will replace all those functions. ...not to mention all the onstar stuff that's displayed on the radio. And most of the newer radios come with bluetooth. It does the same stuff as the factory radio.

Yeah, ...it would be nice to know. I don't like the controls on the stock unit.
Is your stock radio the same one as shown in the pic at first page?
Yes I have the stock unit for an LTZ. I don't know if they're different from model to model. 007 seems to know more about this stuff than me, we're going back and forth because we're just not communicating very well. May be my bad.
I can take a pic if you want.
definately have enjoyed this thread....quick Q as i am also shortly replacing my stock head unit with a single din (ihave the upgraded sonic sound system), if i replace the stock unit with an xm ready unit, is that all i need to keep my XM radio or is there other adapters i have to purchase?
Also, i believe the answer to this is yes, but i do retain the use of the usb port in the glove box with a replaced head unit correct? thanks!opcorn:
